Default opinions needed

i'm curious of what peoples opinions would be of a 2007 frieght shaker century with a det 14.01 475 hp and 10 speed trans with 565,389 miles on her. my friend wants 30 k for her. i'll ask for all the paperwork of the maintance and work done on her and put her on a dyno to see what state the engine is in as well. i don't want to buy nothing needing a face lift under the hood in 3 years eathier.
thanks

as long as the EGR dont act up.. and it will its a great motor. if it wasnt for the egr it would be all i'd drive.. and if you dont want to buy something you might have to put work in to.. dont buy a truck..

First question I have is, do a lot of companies still limit the age of the truck to 5 years? (Not talking about Landstar or Mercer)

Arrow lists '07s in the high 30Ks and low 40Ks, so the price isn't out of line, if all is in good shape. How old is the turbo, and how many miles on the clutch. Either one can cost you. Also, drain the air tanks and see how much oil you have coming out, and check the bottom of the air dryer for oil. Air compressors ain't cheap either. I'm not a big fan of Detroit, but they do move a lot of freight, even with the nut-case that designed the EGR. Check the air hoses to the front wheels for weather-checking, and the plastic ones coming out of the firewall by the steering shaft. Anything close to the steering shaft could be getting rubbed through. (I got put out of service for that once) Little things can add up too.

most companies are taking 07's or 5 years young unless it's in good shape. the truck seems to be in good shape i'll be seeing my friend tomorrow and inspecting it. there i will ask for the paper work of everything thats been done on it and putting it on a dyno to see the state of the engine and transmission. i heard alot of drivers preferedthe det over the mbn engine after doing a google search on the mbn engine you couldn't give me one. i'm not a fan of egr engines myself never mind a dpf as they cause problems to. i'll be draining the air tanks and seeing how much oil comes out and checking the bottom of the air dryer for oil and checking the air hoses and air bags. i'll be going over it with a fine tooth comb. but to think about it it may not be with my wild after all cause at 700 - 800 miles i'll have to start doing oil samples on the engine as well. yes little things do add up.

i dont have to ask myself. might not be the best cat but it runs like a damned raped ape. put close to 100k on it with the only problem i ever had with it was recently a bad injector and a broken valve spring. just turned 679k today. however i do think i do have more bad injectors and i'm getting it looked at soon. i must be lucky, i dont get the turbo serging that everyone experences, never had a problem with the ECM like everyone claims. my only and biggest complaint about it is that the turbo is computer controled and not wastegate. there is times when she dont feel like working but most she's an animal.. for a 435. and yes its in a 435 columbia..

Get a 425 Mechanical Cat ...when you push on the accelerator, it has this weird thing called a metal rod that controls the motor. It works pretty damn good I must say.
