We normally leave at 06:00 and return about 10:00 the following day if we don't get a backhaul. One round trip is 750-950 miles and we'll do this 3 times per week coming home empty. ~2600 miles/week.....home 4 nights....Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat.

With a backhaul, the round trips are ~1100 miles but sometimes we stay out another night. 2 trips/week for 2200 miles.

What you fail to take into account is that you'd be out of hours in less than 5 days, and have to take a 34 hour reset. Therefore, when calculating out your average miles over a weeks time, you wouldn't be anywhere near that 770 miles.

770 X 5 = 3850 miles / 7 days = More like an average of 550 miles per day average over a 7 day period. And that isn't taking into account any pre trips, post trips, fueling, loading, unloading, etc. that eats up your 70 hour clock.

It just isn't possible, and it just isn't realistic.
Yes I agree it'll eat up the clock faster. Not saying it will not, but it can be done one day time that way. Not saying He is but it would be foolish to do that in the long run picture. Yes it would not be realistic to do it all the time. Impossable. not to mention getting burnt out fast.

The reason I am nitpicking over this is that the O.P. specifically asked:

How many miles per day do you drive
Not how many miles have you managed to do once in a blue moon by running your butt off.

These people coming in here claiming to do 700-1000 miles per day are giving an unrealistic picture of the day to day driving they do.

I did the math over and over again, and I keep coming up with an average of around 350 to 500 miles per day.
350 (or less) on busy traffic areas, and 500 on an open highway.
I probably won't be able to do 70mph let alone 75mph in a DD 60 365hp with 410 rears. I don't even know if the truck will go that fast out in the open. Thats why I was wondering how you guys did, so I don't seem like a slow poke , even though I usually am!!

What it all comes down to is - do what you feel comforable with. If you're tired, stop. No load is worth your life.

Those who run 700-1000 miles per day are an accident waiting to happen.

I drive 115-120 miles in a 10hr day. LOL i love it. 55 mins to load and 25 mins to un load and make 3 loads a day. 45 mins each way give or take a few. I get 1.75 a mile as a company driver if i did 120 every day. or 19.10 an hr which is what i really get paid.

I drove like that with Stevens, and the dispatcher hated it when I would stop. I am so glad to be done with that garbage.

My miles per day varies a lot depending on part of country, did I load or unload during part of the day, and lots of other factors.

Generally, if it I am on a longer run and have no loading, unloading, or any other delays, I can do 620 to 650 miles and be totally legal. If I try to do more than that I find myself having to fudge the numbers.

In a 6 day work week which includes some loading and unloading, etc. I will average perhaps 2400 miles so that is 400 miles per day.

I was talking to a Georgia DOT officer at a scale the other day, who told me they consider 700 miles per day to be evidence of log violation and if they see a 700 mile day they start double checking everything on the log, asking for fuel receipts, double checking on miles and speed between cities and so forth until they can prove the violations and ticket them. This guy claimed they assume an honest average is about 50 mph in most conditions.

    Than you are a magician!
Average, I'd say about 5-600, per work day, but "average", didn't mean much, in this context!
    773 miles / 65mph = 11.892307692307692307692307692308 hours.
(above figure is no joke, this is what the calculator spit out on my laptop  )

    773 miles / 11 LEGAL HOURS = 70.27272727272727272727 AVG MPH
    (again, laptop calculator)

Would say what, 11.75 hours or so.................

It would be less than that on days that you have to fuel. On those days you are probably looking at 13.25 hours driving.

    Anywhere from 0 to 284.

On the low end I may not be needed in the city that day and I just play freight tetris on my tow motor for 8hrs.

If I do City P&D I'll drive anywhere from 10mi for a peddle near the barn up to 150 if I go out to our customers in Gardnerville or Fernley.

On the high end if we have more freight that line drivers I'll end up using my 2hr extension, doing a turn n' burn to Sacramento and back for a whopping 284.

The day I ran 700 miles to get home took me close to 15 hours. I didn't plan too well that day and the last 200 miles is pretty congested with no place to park for the night.

Today I've gone 300 miles so far with the cruise on 67 and my GPS tells me my moving average is 60. There are hills that bring me down to 57 or so.

When we were with Arrow in our lease truck Hubby drove 500-800 a day. Now in our own truck he only drives 300-500 a day and makes MORE money

Come on Tootie, you know the truth. If he was alone in the truck now he would be doing like 1,900 a day.

Oh look honey, a craft store, pull over.

I have to pee, pull over.

Lets fool around, pull over, oh wait, never mind I have to pee.

Look, CVS, stop I need some things.

Oh look, soy burgers, I'll bet your hungry dear.
