Searching for a driving position, I have current CDL class A, with,( Hasmat, doub/trips, tanker). My driving record is One of cleanest you'll find out there, also have current DOT card good till 2011. I have had my CDL since they first introduced it in 1990. My work history is very good, just recently became unemployed from a company i have been with for past 8 yrs, no work available. I have been away from OTR driving since 2000, but recently went to truck driving school to get refresher. I just need to get back into driving a tractor trailer, i miss it Prefer not to work for big company, you are just a number at those places and would love to own my own truck some day. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am seeking in the south east or central part of Ohio, Athens area or possible Columbus area. Thank You

You may want to try some LTL's like ABF, UPS, UPS Freight, Fed Ex, Yellow/Roadway, Estes, Con-Way, Saia, USF, etc. You may want to try CFI, NFI, Heartland, Knight, Averitt, Celadon, Covenant, CRST, Davis, Gordon, FFE, Marten, Prime, Interstate Distributor Co., Hogan, J&R Schugel, May Trucking, Schneider, PGT, Paschall, Southern Refrigerated, Sisbro, USA Truck, Trans Am, Transport America, Watkins Shepard, Sharkey, Millis, JB Hunt, Koch, TMC, Cardinal Logistics, Combined Transport, Barr-Nunn, Butler, K&B, Air-Ride, Arnold, ATS, Arrow, Central, Henderson, Florilli, Harris, Hillsboro, Jim Palmer, KLLM, Seward, Sitton, SMX, Wil-Trans, PAM, Sammons, Hirschbach, Boyd Bros., Gainey, Navajo, Quality Carriers, Oakley, Tandem, Van-Wyk, WSE, or Roehl and see what type of regional stuff they may have. You can also try Iddings Trucking, Smith Truck Services Inc, RO Wetz Transportation, Mid Ohio Valley Lime Inc, Hartley Trucking Co, Bulkmatic Transport Co, or Glenn Rhodes Trucking. All you can do is get calling and see, finding small companies with cushy driver jobs are few and far between right now. Take what you can get in the meantime and when things pick up move on down the road. Good luck to you.

I can tell you first hand that none of the LTL outfits you listed are not hiring right now. All of them have drivers laid-off. If your not afraid to hump a little freight I have a buddy that works for MBM Foodservice out of Columbus and he loves it there. Another one I would try is Carry Transit out of Dayton. Carry would actually be my first choice simply because of the pay and benefits.
