This is the deal. Truck shut down about 2 weeks ago, about 20 min later it starts back. Took the code off the dash and called freightliner. They tell me its the crank or cam sensor. I got both and put them in. It ran fine for a week but the weather was in the 20's. This week it started doing it all over. I found that when I have to pull it hard and the temp gets up to 200 or 210 I better be ready to pull over cause it will shut down. So anyone got any ideas. BTW no metal on the sensors.

Shuts down when it gets too hot? Isnt there a sensor for that, That would shut the engine down if it got too hot? I know 210 isnt that hot but maybe that sensor is bad

Check your fuse for the fan clutch. I was getting check engine warning lights coming on and high temps while climbing the Grapevine. Didn't hear the fan coming on, rolled the windows down, turned on the heater full blast and made it to Wheeler Ridge. Thought I had lost the fan clutch and local Detroit mechanic wanted an arm and a leg to replace it. Called my mechanic in Portland and he said check the fuse first. Guess what, bad fuse not an arm and a leg.

one of our trucks in the yard has the fan running all day long. they still avent fixed it yet. prolly a bad thermostat. my truck has been acting like **** in this cold. i start it up its starts idling for maybe 25 seconds, shuts off accopmanied by check engine and enigne shutdown lights. start it back up, runs for 10 seconds, shuts off... i gotta do this like 10-15 times before it will stay on. the temp eventually gets to 180-190 and idles fine. the check egine light still stays on, and the engine sputters all day long. wrote this thing up a few times a ready and mechanics havent fixed ****. booo
