Though I am a HUGE fan of vBulletin message boards (once you get used to them), I'm not sure it was such a great idea to switch this message board over. After all, the folks here on CAD message board are VERY used to the phpBB board and CLEARLY there are some glitches.

YOU ARE NOT BANNED! At least I don't think so. I hope I'm not banned because this whole alter ego thing is weirding me ot. It appears that a lot of people got messages that they are banned. I'm wondering how not steve is going to handle this. Not not steve? Who knows.

For those who are frustrated- once you learn to use this new message board, you'll like it. The User CP (control panel) is a VERY useful tool. You can keep track of threads you've posted in so you don't have to go through the huge lists to find the thread you were looking for. Also, you can skip to the first unread post in a thread you are following. That's a feature I really like.

So, hang on and let the admins get this thing worked out.

I wish I'd known to expect it, though. I haven't been on in a few days so I don't know if the made an announcement or not. But I freaked out little when I found out I was banned. For life. That sucks. :(

Personally I liked the old board...I found it was way more user friendly.

I had the same as you TW. Tried to log on & found I was banned...for life.

Some of us WORK for a living. Some notice would have been really nice!

Can't have avatars, nor picture in signatures either. At least with an avatar most would know who each other is!

Yeah, some notice would have been nice. I think MOST of us work for a living- lol. I haven't messed in the User CP to see what options we have. We should be able to have avatars and pictures in sig etc. You should be able to have a profile pic, too. vBulletin has a lot more features than phpBB but that doesn't mean they've added them all.

I tired to set it in the USER CP, but it only changes how you view what is in a thread, not the list of threads. So far you have to change it EVERYTIME you enter a Forum, so I'm guesing that it's a default on the Admins end.

I didn't have any important PMs but if you had some and lost them that really sucks. That's the kind of stuff they should have planned out ahead of time so that they didn't get lost- or at least warned everyone well in advance so that you knew to get the important info copied somewhere else.

The vBulletin boards I've used have a lot of options and very few quirks- so, with time I'm sure, will this one. They do need to reset probably MOST of the default options but I imagine that if we hang in there, they'll get it right.

I'm sorry if I sound like a cheer leader for CAD. I don't mean to- but, again, I have a lot of compassion for admin's in a situation like this. I'm sure they're working on it.

Play around in the CP User panel, you can add a Profile pic. Avatars are disabled.

I did Reb...I noticed most of the [IMG] codes are disabled. I agree with you on this one, for such a busy board it was very poor form on the admin's part not to give us some warning this was going to happen.

Tweety, you can stick up for the admin's all you like, but it seems they have ALL gone AWOL. There seems to be no protocols here at all except to make it look EXACTLY like "The Trucker's Report". As Reb has stated...there are 14,000+ members on this forum, seems to me they will likely lose the majority over this mess. It REALLY sucks to have to start everything over again, if we'd all had just a couple of days notice we could have at least saved stuff that was important & been prepared for & had some patience for some "glitches", but when you get ZERO notification something this drastic is going to happen, well it makes one wonder.... Just my 2 cents worth...if I did THIS to my customers...I wouldn't have them!

And I don't mean to keep sounding like a bitch, but I find it hard to feel sorry for people who cause their own problems by making BAD decisions and NOT doing their homework. You don't take something this big LIVE without testing first. It's a whole lot easier to do something right the first time than it is to try and figure out what went wrong when it's already LIVE.

Why would any admin ever want the default thread view to be alphabetical? It goes against how the mind works.

One good thing is the nesting of quotes is gone. No more moving quotes around to make it look normal. Although we now have to quote each person's post if we want them in a single reply.

I can tell you where they messed up....I used to run a web hosting co so I got very used to dealing wioth phpbb2 and vBulletin phpnuke(kinda like phpbb2) and other fun lil toys like that....

Viewing the member list it looks like the import is still running, the populations keeps 'growing' as does thelist opof banned members.:D

That's the rub Kat, we aren't 'customers'! This is a free board so if we leave it doesn't cost them anything does it? However it was the #1 site for truckers before this. It remains to be seen if it will remain so.

You all might want to play around with the user CP. Avatars work(90x90), smiles work:D:confused:(what little there are) and I think sig lines work(still playing with that one:D) and some of us were not banned and can still log in under our user names(request a new password:D)

Double R- I don't know what's different about your login but I still can't get an avatar up (I'm familiar with vBulletin, so I do know where to do it) and I still can't login with my real username (I can't even read any posts on Mozilla because if I try to access the message board it yells at me still- got to clear my cookies I guess).

While the members here may not be true customers they are still a very important part of this site. Think of it like a newspaper. The price of an ad is based on how many read that paper. ( Newspapers make their money from ads, not the price of the paper ). This site sells ad space.
