Default Star Transport out of Morton, IL

Anyone in here drive for STAR? I have a friend that drives for them and they treat him like S@#T. He does just good enough to bring home $200 a week. I tried helping him to get on with a diffrent company but no one would hire him becasue of the crap they put on his DAC Report. I am going to help him find someone to help clean up his DAC so he can get with a better company. So if there is any Star drivers in here, how are they treating you?

I know this is OLD but im posting this because its' the only thing on Star transport on the board

I started with star.. almost started with schneider which would have been a nightmare. This is old information but from what ive heard its still Pretty accurate.

Star had the best trucks on the road period . All petes. They had a deal with pete who partially owned them at the time and they ran a LOT of peterbilt and Cat freight.

My first year i made 45k. It stayed around there. I was a trainer but wasnt a scumbag - i viewed my job as training drivers not screwing them for miles. (i was on their top driver list regularly).

They wont push you to run illegal. But if you wake up at 6am and get a load at 1pm then tell them you cant get it there on time cause of logbook rules ... youre gonna sit a lot. That is with ANY company... why exactly did you log on duty at 6am when you sat there?

They get you home. plan on 36 hours from the time you get home til the time you leave. If you are a lazyass you wont get home cause youre costing them money. One thanksgiving they Deadheaded me 700 miles home because some slack newbie didnt meet for the tcall. .. how many companies will do that.

You wont get rich. Rule of trucking: the nicer the truck the less money the driver makes. Those guys driving old uglyass freightliners for companies you never heard of are the ones pulling in the $$$$. Think about it..

I NEVER had a problem with my pay. Ever. Apparently this isnt a normal thing in trucking.

Most of their dispatchers were good and treated you like you treated them. They had one or two who were pieces of sh**. What company doesnt.

Star is the company i reccomend to every newbie. I have 8ish years under my belt eveything from bedbugging to regional to dedicated and it says a lot that im thinking of going back to t hem rather than a company that pays 20 cents more an hour because i trust them.

i started with star in may of 2008.i was fresh out of school.they put me in a truck with a trainer and the truck only had 1 bed.so i ended up sleeping on the floor of that truck most of the time.the truck was nice but the floor was uncomfortable lol.i didnt stay very long.my trainer was happy there but he was going home every weekend for a 34 and getting paid all miles to the truck.so he was doing pretty good.i had to go home with my trainer everyweekend.thats all i got for star transport.

Truckit what you just described is the experience of every newbie for every company out there. Except the single bunk thing you should have raised hell that was bull****. And ALL these companies have scumbag trainers who abuse the hell out of their trainees
