FINALLY!!!!

We have been in the process all summer of waiting.....waiting for a shop for our trucks...it was supposed to be completed August 1. Well...guess what?

There is PROGRESS!!! Here's what I came home to today, after 2 months of looking at the materials lying in our yard....

Hopefully done before WINTER!

wildkat 09-04-2008 05:16 PM

Yeah, you got that right! It's so damned HARD to get anything done here, everybody is just so damned BUSY! It takes 2 YEARS to get a house built!

It's supposed to be completed in 18 DAYS...I'll believe it when I see it. Then Claude & his cousin still have to wire it...man I KNOW I married that man for a reason!    He's literally a JACK OF ALL TRADES!!!

Double L 09-04-2008 05:59 PM

Good luck and it's about time! :D 8)

wildkat 09-04-2008 06:14 PM

You got that right!!

BlooMoose 09-04-2008 06:43 PM

When does "winter" usually hit, there? If it doesn't get bad until October or so...it looks like you will be sitting pretty. Once they start, they should hit it hard. Especially if htey are so busy, they are not going to want to waste any time. It will be nice!

wildkat 09-04-2008 06:59 PM

Mostly we get lucky & the real cold weather (-30's) doesn't come till late December, but we usually get a pretty decent fall. Damn we've had frost already...really sucks, cause my flowers were looking so nice!

wildkat 09-06-2008 08:40 PM

Ok, update time....

The builder tells us that the trusses are going up Monday, the door headers are in the walls are ready....and guess what? It's time for my favorite mechanic to get to work....STILL no shop to work in!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...p/DSCF0394.jpg

So here he is....

Servicing my truck...

Oh Oh gotta go to town for more oil!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...p/DSCF0406.jpg

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...p/DSCF0390.jpg

Good thing we live in the country...his tools are piled up beside the house...

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...p/DSCF0391.jpg

Isn't it fun to lay on a piece of cardboard in the gravel?

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...p/DSCF0392.jpg

What a cluster...can't find anything, by the time this is all done, he's going to have TWO of everything!

Some is here....piled up IN the trailer out on the damned ROAD...they need the room to work in the yard...had to move it!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...p/DSCF0401.jpg

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...p/DSCF0396.jpg

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...p/DSCF0395.jpg

I need more RAGS! Go get me some more rags!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...p/DSCF0397.jpg

It will be so nice NOT to have all these PILES of STUFF laying all over the place...

Well consider me jealous. I really wish I had a shop and someone to service my truck besides me

It really does not help that I just spent a couple of hours changing an airbag in Tropical Storm Hanna, OUTSIDE!

repete 09-07-2008 12:17 AM

WASH THAT TRUCK, DAMMIT.

RebelDarlin 09-07-2008 05:02 AM

You know it doesn't do any good to wash it until he's done working on it.

Leave it to you to say THAT Rev! Believe it or not it WAS washed 2 days ago! Fall has arrived up here & it's damned near WINTER in the far north! I hit a shhhh... snow storm on my way home!

Besides...one day I'd like to see if you can keep up to me & still have time to polish your truck the way you do....somehow I doubt it!

I could wash mine everyday and it would still look like that within a few hours.

EXACTLY, I spent 3 hours & 150$ washing & polishing only to get 50 miles out & hit rain then 150 mile (good old Fox Creek) & hit snow...so much for a clean truck! At least the bugs are pretty much done for the year!

wildkat 09-08-2008 03:33 PM

More Progress! The trusses are going UP!

Them must be some good ole' boys cause I know them city dudes like to waste time!

wildkat 09-08-2008 06:15 PM

Yep, just some simple country folk...just like us!

Double L 09-08-2008 06:23 PM

I notice when you live around a big city alot of the contractors are union so they sit on the job and waste time cause they are getting paid to do it. But for the ones out in the woods they get it done and get it done RIGHT! Just my opinion!

Windwalker 09-08-2008 10:10 PM

Also, up where you live, you have a much shorter construction season. If they don't get it done this year, it will take a long time before they can finish it. Or work in some pretty cold weather.

I'll bet they get the outside finished in short order, so they can have the heat on and work on the inside in comfort. :)

Not really, we're used to the cold...our guys don't stop working outside until it's below 20 below, so that leaves about 10 months for construction.

LOL Windy, it's not COLD up here yet...we still have daytime temps of around 70F, tho I must admit the nights are starting to cool off...we had frost on Saturday night, but it wasn't a killing frost, just got rid of the bugs, now we'll have a nice fall!

It's likely we won't have heat this winter...not in the conventional sense anyway, probably be using the "Herman Nelson" for this winter. Then next spring we plan on buying a used oil furnace...free heat!

Could use hydrogen and have free heat with no polution... But, then... You'd have to get rid of the used oil...

wildkat 09-11-2008 11:07 PM

Ok...more progress...talked to the builder when I got home this afternoon, he figures by the end of next week she'll be DONE!!!!

Can't win can we...so we get rid of the oil...get a small credit from the gov't for using it instead of dumping it, or paying some hefty costs for disposing of it....way better far as I'm concerned!

Yep, we tried to make it big enough to replace the old garage & have room for the trucks.

It's dimensions are 50 x 50 with 18 ft walls. The big door you see on front is 16' high x 24'wide big enough to drive both trucks in side x side, & the side doors are 10 high x 16 wide for the car, pick-up & hubby's '48. Then the last door is for the wash bay...we could have gone just 10 ft bigger it would have been nice, but this was 75,000 so we just couldn't afford to go bigger.

wildkat 09-22-2008 11:35 AM

Well here it is...complete...but for the doors. Those are supposed to be put in sometime this week!

And look at this...they FIT!!!

Yep, just wish we could have afforded another 10 ft. Then it would have been purrfect! :D :D

The "boys" loved it...I wish I would have had my camera yesterday! We have 5 "shop" cats...they were busy checking it out & were all sitting in a line on the rear drives of both trucks...it was cute!

Mandy doesn't go outside...she's a house/truckin' kitty!
