5th wheel adjustment?

Can I adjust the fifth wheels tightness around the kingpin? Seems like there is a little play, and you can feel the king pin slide around. Truck is a 04 mack vision, Thanks :D

I think Steve Booth had the same problem with his 5th wheel. Check his post.

There should be a bolt you can adjust. If it can no longer be adjusted, then you may need to either get a new fifth wheel or have the old one rebuilt. I would start by trying to adjust it.

Find out what 5th wheel you have, then go to the MFG's web site. You should be able to download the info on how to properly adjust the jaws. If not, seek professional help, as improper adjustment could lead to premature dropping of the trailer in a most inopportune moment.

My 5th wheel was loose and they tightened it up all the way but still no good. I had to get it rebuilt and now it's great.
