'07 (DPF) enignes are NOT available until 01/07... because truck manufacturers are not forced to install them until then.

There is to many emission "improvments" on it, and too many things, could go wrong...not quiet tested yet!

that always seems to happen when they raise emission standards

The exhaust and closed crankcase are the only visible changes...

The new 07 CATs have a spark plug, ignition coil, and fuel injector in the exhaust system. An electronic exhaust system with inlet and outlet pressure and temperature sensors to trigger catalyst regeneration.

WOW  I wish I could talk our shop Foreman into swapping out engines, I'll take a regular C15 please, just think of the better auction price... My 01 Pete got sold at auction yesterday, in Grande Prarie.

just to throw in a different rub here.....its pre-03 for me. I have still not come to terms with EGR let alone all the newer crap! Just keep rebuiling as long as you can!!!

CAT isn't using EGR at all... they will be using CGI (clean gas induction) in '07.

The difference is where the gases are routed from. The "dirty" gases from the EGR engines are the cause of most of the EGR valve failures.

Cat.

Cat is crap !
Cummins ISX is now a proven engine and totally compliant !
The ISX `07 has a better built EGR valve, located farther down stream and made by a different manufacture. The biggest change is a serviceable muffler ( that means it can be cleaned ... not replaced ).
The `07 Cummins ISX is a highly superior engine ... and moving up from a very good foundation !

CAT SUCKS (then they blow up).
