Quote: Sounds like good advice guys, thanks.
I actually have two options, pay the mechanic or ask a couple people I know for help, they do work on heavy trucks.

Thanks again guys.
Ask the people you know and learn from them

They should have most of the tools you need, plus know what in the hell they're doing

If you dont get the inner and outer wheel bearing nuts right, you just killed somebody and possibly yourself

I've seen too different occasions where the nuts back off and out came the duals. Driver didnt feel anything but saw his duals passing him

Luckily nobody was hurt on either occasion.

And I've only been doing this for a year

your shop has lost 2 sets of duals in a year?!? that's terribly incompetent

I don't like asking people for help, foolish pride I guess. I know, I need to get over it, my wife tells me all the time. Seems like wifes have no problem pointing out your flaws.

I'm going to let the mechanic do it, he's going to do a pm and fix the oil cooler leak as well, and put the power steering gear box on. He said I could help if I wanted to so we'll see. If I'm not to busy with work I would like to learn.

I normally charge $100 per axle plus the cost of parts.

No, somebody else did the work that caused the duals to come off. We just got the job of fixing it properly

Since I've been there we have not had a single comeback related to anything like that

We're goofy, but not incompetant

I charge double when the guy I'm doing the work for wants to "help" though. (Not work on trucks, but it's the same principle. If I have to entertain and humor someone, and try to make him feel like he's being helpful, it costs plenty more.)
