I applied with Howell's a couple months ago and I never heard a peep out of them. Mind you, I also live about 10 miles from their headquarters in Roanoke, VA. I hope you have better luck. :-\

While many carriers have laid off or cut back on hiring, there are still some who are hiring. I would just keep applying and sooner or later you will find a company. You may also want to check with the local state employment office. Many companies post jobs with them. I have gotten a lot of applicants from state employment offices.

Bass Ackwards...

Hey, Folks!
I've got some "loose ends" to tie up before I'll be free to accept an orientation invitation, and right now, I've got my hands full with that!
It's encouraging, though, just to have some names to work with!
Thanks, all, for the help and the feedback! And wish me luck on this (groan) rather huge move!

They answered! Really!!

Bulkmatic got back to me! Quickly!! I just LOVE a responsive company!! :)
I'm sending them everything I can think of that they might want--all the way down to my genetic sequencing!
Haven't heard much from the others, yet, but I'm kind of glad. Got a lot of packing left to do!
Orange? Can't you just smell that coffee?? heehee

P.S., Gman, I'll do just that...never hurts to cut a wide path, eh?

Okay...here goes..
Raven said to call back in April--they're only accepting applications at this time.
Howell's requires their trucks to be parked at the terminals during hometime. Not ready for that, yet.
Waiting on a "call back" from Christy Trkng.
Went to put in an application, in person, and got an impromptu interview FROM HELL--complete with Satan!-- at a local company. Needless to say, I will keep looking!
Anyone heard of "Best Cartage"?

AND SINCE WHEN DOES GETTING STUCK IN THE MUD MEAN I RAN MY TRUCK OFF THE ROAD??? "Satan" showed me this fax that had that very charge listed!!! I've NEVER run my truck off the road!!!! WTH????

Well, back to pavement pounding...

heh, I've heard they can charge you for getting your truck stuck in the mud, glad they didn't charge me but they can. also have you looked at salem leaseing out of winson salem? what area do you live in. I live east of I-95 so pickings are slim out here but there are still options.
