Worst company
I'll have to say. BEST DEDICATED.FIRST I worked for them .and they said they would pay for detention and stop pay. i had to fight with them every week.and for the first month at a new dedicated customer they were hauling for.i did nt see any body fromm there term. down to see if things were running smooth. what we needed or how things were being handled .Now here is the icing on the cake all there trucks are equiped with cameras, that not only has a veiw of the road in front of the truck, but also is on the driver. now that is thefirst company that i have ever drove for that is always watching their drivers.Better not be eating or picking your nose,or talking on the phone.any time . SO be ware of a company named Best Dedicated in Kernersville,Nc this company just does not care.

So far, my best experience was Swift, while my worst experiences were with those smaller, mom'n'pop companies that everyone seems to spout alot of good things about.
Yeah, all big companies started out small, but after getting involved with two that ran a Mickey-Mouse operation, I would rather stay away from them until they became big themselves and a foster a safe, legal working environment in order to protect their reputations. Point being, the smaller the company, the more crap they think they can get away with. |
How can you have a valid poll without CR England on the list or is that just a given???
|
Yeah, Werner, JB Hunt, CR England, Covenant, and Crete should be in the running as well!

How did you manage to add Jim Palmer to the list? Just curious, since they are relatively small and obscure Montana company.

Just wondering why a 5 year old post was dug up:flame:
I know some site have rules about "grave-digging," not a bad idea if you ask me. I can see a few months, but 5 YEARS. The penalties usually range from warnings for the occasional accident to perm bans for habitual offenders. It isn't that hard to start a new thread. |

Royal express add this crappy company to the list !

Better yet, which are the BEST to work for?
Hello,
Not worked for any on the list, seems we can all tell a "Horror Story" or three on just about any Company. I could add Butler Transport in Kansas City Kansas as worked there a month and had to quit. All the usual reasons, just know STAY AWAY from them. Ran 3100 miles one week and my take home was $56.00, never did get that right. But "Banging on" the big outfits needs balanced by the drivers here who loved working for them. Crete for instance as had a very good friend @ Roadway who drove for them for years and this Guy is a great driver and individual. He came to Roadway for the Union to fill out a pension and just like me got laid off because of the merger w/Yellow Freight. But his years at Crete were great he said, made very good money and no problems with them at all. We need to hear the horror, but it needs balanced by the folks who have good to say about an outfit,,,if thats possible anyway. These times are a changing folks, things are going to go downhill fast now that all the Union outfits are going out of business. And for those of you who hate the unions,,,,,ask WHO is it that pays the best with great benefits???? If it wasnt for Union carriers making 57 CPM, 22.00 an hour for line 4 and great insurance, how much do you think the NON Union Carriers would be paying you if there wasnt any "Standard" of excellent wages and benefits along with being able to run perfectly legal and protection behind the driver for his job after an accident. Just my two cents worth is all, but been around this business since 1973 so have a bit of experience in it to speak from. At all levels to, from mechanic to driver to management. Do your research, ask questions everywhere and go with your best instincts in looking for a job. Many times problems can be handled, sometimes not. All outfits have them tho, no perfect company exists. Had my choice, still be at Roadway happy as if had good sense driving their old trucks, 62 mph down the road getting passed by everyone except at the bank. Made 49 K last year driving 79,000 miles with every second on line 4 paid for at $21.06 and ran every mile legal. |

A very good insightful post. |

This thread is titled "The Worst Trucking Companies To Work For". Not which company is the greastest and pays the most. Nobody said Roadway/Yellow sucks. |

I was wondering the same thing myself. I didn't even know that this thread existed. |
How about a poll which is the best, more productive right?
|
Since I haven't worked for any of those outfits I can't vote.
But the absolute worst company I ever worked for is P.F.A Systems out of Joliet,IL. the idiot owner considers his O/O are just meat in the seat, basically an outlaw company with no regard for his drivers or public safety. |
"meat in the seat" hilarious.
:lol2: |

I would but in 20 years of trucking I haven't found a "good" one yet and I don't think I will.
|
Is that an England truck in the background?
|
Yeah it is I own two of them.Have had real good luck with em maintenance wise.
|
I haven't driven for any of those companies, so I didn't vote.
I drive for Design Transportation based out of Dallas, TX. So far, the only complaint I have is that my fleet manager is always trying to con me out of my home time. Their policy is: 1 day off for every week out. I run 3-4 weeks at a time and have never had more than 2 days off. My fleet manager always gets me back to the yard when I'm scheduled to go home, but then he's giving me a load right back out for another day or two. Design has no-force dispatch, but my fleet manager won't take "NO" for an answer. I have had a friend who drives for Scheisser (Schneider) National ask if Design is hiring, I told him yes, but he doesn't want to work for design, unless he wants to get F**ked out of his time at home every month. I can't even make plans for hometime because I never know when I'm going to get home or how long I'm going to be there! My daughter turns 1 year old on Feb 11th and they had better get me home for her birthday, or I'm going to raise holy hell! |
Shaffer/Crete will lie to fill a seat and tell you they will get you home but you better live by a terminal. The other thing is insurance is no good and you pay 80% up to five thousand or so. The last thing if you quit, they charge nearly $150 to clean your truck no matter if it was clean when you left it. This is nothing but a tool to get their orientation money back in part. No other company ripp's the driver off like Crete. I see they didn't make the crap list but they should be.
|
I have driven since 1975. There is no rookie here anymore as that young man has now been replaced by a 55 year old man. The few lines above are true.

Amen to this ENTIRE statement. I've worked for 5 truck outfits all the way up to the 18,000+ behemoth that is Swift. Swift is by far one of the better carriers I've worked for. Are they perfect? Hell no. But no one ever is. |

you need to add covenant and cr england

The smaller companies are the ones that most drivers fear to get into. The bigger ones are moer concerned about their reputation, so they treat their employees well. And I agree with madaxeman, the ones that have shut down in the last 2 years.
|
P.A.R Trucking Inc. Summit,IL. ( tanker outfit ) heard from a lot of former drivers that the owner skims of the top of his O/O settlements, I've met this clown and he is a little skeevy troll.
|
I def agree on Crete
|
Prime pulling a strong second. Not enough lease drivers voting I guess.
|
No these so called drivers have to dig up these older threads be cause they will not tell who they work for fot fear of loosing their jobs if they even work at any job in the trucking industry.
|
Yes I am new to the forum, thus the tag rookie.. But I have 48 years of over the road company driver and o/o and company owner.. The worst I every worked for was my own.. I was the whole ground crew. But in the 2 1/2 years I had the company I only had to hire 13 people to operate 13 tractors and 31 trailers and I hired 1 relief driver. My rules were this is what we haul, this is what I have for you to drive, this is what I pay and if you can't live on that the go back out the door you came in!!! It worked very well... It is ashamed that the companies now days can not even try it that way.. They might start to have very very low turn overs and keep the drivers and their families happy.... Nuff said...

To the individual 99% of all major companies suck to work for, for the simple fact they are in it to make as much money as possible as quick as possible. It’s all about the bottom line. Being a company driver you will not get rich in today’s standard. At first it will be hard to make a living and forget it if you have a family you are going to be broke flat broke for about the first year. If you are smart and just want to work, you will get your foot in the door keep your mouth shut get your experience and apply to a company that offers more of what you want. Don’t try to change anything with the large companies it’s a rat race if you’re not running they will fill your seat by the end of the work day. hope this helps just my two cents
