Thank you for the clarification. 8)

And Skywalker: you don't like USX and their policies and that's your good right. Everyone is entitled to their standards, values and opinions. But I also don't like to be a negative complainer about everything that's going on on this website and/or the industry because there are a lot of good things, it's just what you make of it yourself.
Yes it is my "right" to be as I am. I'm not a "negative person"... I'm just one of those people who can be very supportive of people wanting to move forward with their lives and get the best that they can. I just like to see people get the "facts" plain and simple. You're right...."Life is what YOU make of it". 8) And while much of the trucking industry is the "pits" and not the "valhalla" that some want to believe...its still a place where you can make a decent living. And its also a career field where some people will make more money than they could anywhere else given their skill sets or educational level. It has its upsides, as well as its downsides.

I just have a problem with "payscales" that aren't fair, and in particular with payscales that are detrimental to the person doing the work. There is just too much possibility of "shennanigans" being pulled to cheat a driver out of money...by adding one or two miles to the paid distance on a run, lowering his or her pay....and unfairly enhancing the company's profit. I would have little or no problem with USX...if they paid the same cpm regardless of the miles run be it 1 or 3000.

I'm happy here, you wouldn't be and that's fine. That's why there are many companies to choose from and you can go where you please if you keep your record clean. For me personally: I honestly have never made more money driving than with USX so I can give a rat's A$$ I'm making a few pennies per mile less than regular teams. I know they are sitting week in and week out. We haven't sat at all unless we asked for it. I might not like some of the policies either and another thing I don't like is their drivers are (for the most part) not as sociable(to put it nicely) as other companies I've driven for, but again I'm here to make a paycheck not to expand my circle of friends.
I'm actually happy that you are happy where you are and what you are doing. Thats a "good thing". You have found what works for you...and that is very important for anyone.

Like you...while I like being around "positively oriented people".... I'm in this to earn a living....no expand my circle of friends either!! 8)

I was suprised by that sliding payscale.
To a newb looking at companies, the advertised pay looks pretty good, I mean, $0.35.
Then I looked at the chart, and wow, the $0.25 for 900+ miles doesn't look good at all!
How do they figure that? Looks like that would be fun trying to figure out how much you are suppose to make. Not something I would want to deal with as a new driver! :?
Bet there are a lot of 900+ loads huh? What is the logic behind this for hte company?

The sliding pay scale is definately an issue, but better yet their policy on quiting your job before attending orientation, has me kind of questionable about their intentions.

I think the reason for that is that for some/most companies as soon as you leave they will up-date your DAC ASAP. That way USX can pull your DAC and it will have any info. from your last company. By doing it that way they ( USX ) don't have to spend the extra time making calls and faxes getting all the info. they need to be in compliance with DOT regs. as far as the 10yr. history.

Just my opinion,

The only good thing I can see about USX is they do run some very nice equipment with some nice toys in them...The best truck they run is the 780 , But that truck is somewhat a pain in the A$$ for running freight that is much above 40k

i don't see why it would be, we have run up to 45.200 with full tanks and yes we had to slide things to get it right, we run about 1 load a week that is over 40k. if it's loaded right we have run 45,560 gross was 79820 with 3/4 tanks.

A volvo 780 with full tanks weighs close to 22k an empty trailer is about 14k...that 36k leaving you all of 44k to pull with full tanks 3/4 tanks gives you back about 450lbs allowing you about 44.5 k ...I have run into drivers at USX that could not pull their 44.5 lb load with full tanks and needed product cut . I would encourge you to weigh your trck with full tank/empty trailer and the 2 of you in it ,and the next time you pull one of those 45.5 k lb loads weight it and subtract you empty weight from the loaded gross ...I bet if your legal on your gross that after you subtract your previously determined tare wt from the loaded gross your not pulling a true 45.5 k + lbs more like 44k

I need to see what this thing really weighs ,As I 've never seen the registered wt on one ,Or actually weighed one ...just heard ...HOW MUCH...they weigh from those that drive them ... I wouldn't mind driving one of the 780 volvos from the aspect of all the room it offers inside the cab , but i just don't see how that truck could be under 21.5 k tractor wt with full tanks , but i could be wrong since i've never driven one or weighed one myself .
