Changes that have occurred, truck drivers' imaginary version: CFI was God's gift to earth, and now it sucks because Con-Way is the evil corporate overlord. May be projected for the future, reality version: ... May be projected for the future, company version: Miles galore, dedicated lanes up the wazoo, less dwell time, parking and fueling at Con-Way terminals, more P&D drivers meaning less dock time for us, etc. May be projected for the future, truck drivers' imaginary version: The evil corporation paid $750 million for CFI so they could close us down. "Just look at cornflake!" Drivers, who were getting 3,000 miles a week before the merger, will now only get 1,000 miles a week so we'll all starve. Blah, blah blah, I'm sure you see where this goes. I'll believe all of it when, and only when, I see it. So far, it's CFI running the same way CFI has always run. Some good, some bad, most in the middle. I've seen one run with Menlo listed as the carrier, so I guess their truckload spend is coming around little by little. Mostly though, the job is the same. |
