 There was a bad accident on the I-90 this morning around 5:30 am. It involved a flatbed from a company called Pitman. It looked as if it occurred at the on ramp from the rest area heading west bound.
The truck was alright but a SUV ran into the trailer and two people are dead. We drove past it this morning a reminder of how careful and watchful we all need to be. Drive Safely! Goin Fer It's Wife |

I know that System Transport does allot of runs to Seattle and that goes through the Snowqualmi (SP) Pass which is bad allot of times if there is any snow. It is all a learning experience hopefully the right lessons are learned! Goin Fer It's Wife Maybe I'm off base, but that's how this came across, to me anyway. BOL...Rebel |

His trainer at Davis Transport had the philosophy of not ever chaining up. He said if the roads were bad enough to chain up he would shut it down and wait it out. The weather was not bad it was that the pass required chains. If the weather was severe and there were safety issues I would not even think about suggesting that he should have chained up or even drive but I think it was an issue of not wanting to chain and hoping they would lift the restriction more than anything. This philosophy under the circumstances will not work with the short runs he will be getting at times with System Transport. This may work when you haul loads that are going 2000-3000 miles but when you are having loads that are 280-300 miles through areas that frequently require chains this is not going to work. Of course as I said if it comes to a safety issue whether it is adverse conditions of any kind I think he should always pull it over until he feels it is safe to drive. Goin Fer It's Wife |

Last year he was very fortunate driving with Davis the waiting method worked almost every time and he still got there on time or early! He will come around regarding the need to sometimes chain it is just one of those chores that you really hate to do. Who knows maybe he will get lucky this year and the passes up here will be clear every time he gets a load through them but if that happens I think it will be luck if runs those passes allot. Update on the Accident
The accident that occurred on the I-90 was caused because the people in the car were doing 60 mph and they said it was too fast for the weather conditions! The car went into a slide. The Pitman Truck was parked on the shoulder of the rest stop area heading West bound as the rest stop and more than likely the truck stops around were full. He was told it was alright to park there. The car slid into the back of his trailer actually under the flatbed. He was hauling steel pipes. The two people in the SUV died. Poor driver what a way to start your day  Goin Fer It's Wife |

 My husband is a little bummed! He dropped his load in Ephraim Utah and picked up a load in Provo Utah this load will be going to Portland. He was looking forward to coming home this weekend as he was told or lead to believe in the heavy haul division he would have weekends off.
It will be an approximately 885 mile run. Home would have been about a hundred miles less! He is hoping that this is an exception and not the normal protocol with System Transport as he said this evening it was not what he signed up for. The OTR guys are home every 10-14 days and generally have more miles, less tarping. His main purpose for signing onto the heavy haul was so he would be home on weekends! Goin Fer It's Wife |

Goin Fer It's Wife Welcome to heavy haul you may not go many states, but you have to bust butt to get the weekend home time. weekends off are not a guarantee you have to do your part too to make it happen. Too bad lee couldnt put in more input, seems like your the driving force behind his driving. Reminds me of when i had a a wife at home forcing me onto the road, she liked the paycheck, and couldnt care less about anything else. typically she never told me what to do like run, chain or anything. that would have been a final straw.....oops., it was . |
Rokk,
It sounds like you still harbor a great deal of bitterness and anger for your ex-wife I sincerely hope you get over it and move on. As far as Lee I have stood behind him through thick and thin. I do have a stake and am a partner in this marriage. I am the one who knows what bills we have and the stress of getting them out falls on me. When things were very difficult I was the one who went down to the food bank for food. And when the times were difficult yes I did look for work that would still allow me to drive my children to school but could not find work with those hours so I resorted to looking for graveyard work but had difficulty finding that many jobs which I could apply for to work a graveyard shift. I just wanted to add this because with your negativity I am certain it would have been brought up. And I was the one who initially spoke to his friend who was in driving. He then spoke to Lee. Lee was excited and made the decision to drive as a career. His first post on this board also evidences this. The decision to go with System Transport was his and I supported him with that decision also. I did however point out the facts and realities of the job and the differences between what he was use to doing vs. what he would be doing at System Transport. I asked him if he was up to tarping allot more. Yes, I did help make the calls for him and get the paper work for him. I guess you think I should not have aided him in anyway even though he was on the road. At times he will make suggestions to me regarding things that I am doing or handling or I will even ask him what his feelings or opinions are on things this is called a relationship. If I felt I could not have any discussion and he was a dictator and I could not have any input I don’t think we would be married very long either. Chaining will more than likely be a reality in short haul loads in the Northwest. If he is not willing to do that then he may have to find another type of job. Yes he has responsibilities at home and sitting on unemployment is not an option but it is something he would not be happy doing anyway, as he wants very badly to be able to sufficiently meet the needs of this family. He is a man and that is what he wants to be. And while he was annoyed at the thought of having to chain I did not tell him to do it. I told him that the guys that had chained early that morning had already put some miles behind them. And I did point out the fact that he would more than likely have to chain with System Transport. There was not a major blow out or fight regarding chaining or what he should do he was more annoyed with the thought of chaining than me. I hope one day you can find peace and contentment in your life and let go of the bitterness and anger you still harbor. I am sad that you felt that you had to direct your anger to me as I always thought highly of you and have always wished for the best for you. Goin Fer It's Wife |
Accident claims lives of Hayden couple
Posted: Thursday, Jan 10, 2008 - 10:08:00 pm PST Email this story Printer friendly version By MARC STEWART Staff writer SUV collided with back of trailer carrying pipes COEUR d'ALENE -- A Hayden couple died in an accident on Interstate 90 Thursday morning when their SUV collided with the back of a tractor trailer carrying metal pipes. Idaho State Police said Kenneth R. Foster, 70, and Janet M. Foster, 55, died at the scene. The truck driver, Roy Potter, was not injured, but was taken to Kootenai Medical Center for counseling, ISP Cpl. Ronald Sutton said. "The driver was pretty shaken," Sutton said. "He was parked on the side of the on-ramp near the Huetter rest stop." With a winter storm blowing and icy road conditions, Foster lost control of his 1999 Isuzu Rodeo after passing another vehicle shortly before 5 a.m. The westbound vehicle crossed over both lanes, went sideways, and then slammed into the back of a flatbed tractor trailer. "A witness estimated that Foster was going between 55 and 60 mph," Sutton said. "These folks were driving too fast for the conditions. They would have crashed even if he hadn't been parked there." Potter, 33, has not been cited in the accident. But the South Carolina resident could face criminal charges for parking on the shoulder of the on-ramp. He was sleeping in the cab at the time of the accident. * Sutton said it appears Potter violated U.S. Department of Transportation rules that prohibit parking on the shoulder of on-ramps and could be fined $119,000 and be cited for a federal misdemeanor. "We'll send the information to the prosecutor's office when we're finished with the investigation," Sutton said. "He communicated to me that the Huetter rest stop was full." Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the accident, but toxicology reports are pending, police said. The Fosters were wearing their seat belts, police said. ISP Capt. Clark Rollins urged motorists to use caution when driving on snow and ice. "People need to slow down," Rollins said. "My officer running code to his incident could only go 45 mph. People think if they have four-wheel drive they can go as fast as they want. Four-wheel drive only helps you get traction to get going. If you lose traction on ice, it makes no difference." I hope they do not cite this driver as I am certain DOT knew he was parked there as they were right across the freeway and I have seen other trucks parked there in bad weather also. I feel bad for this driver worrying about the stress of being sited just because they need someone to be in trouble! Goin Fer It's Wife |

Hopefully the most they do to thid driver is give him a wriiten warning for parking on the on ramp.
When I was in the ER getting checked out after my accident the State Patrol came in and gave me a written warning for improper lane usage. Since I was on my back and not thinking, I wish I would have said next time I'm rolling-sliding on my roof would it be better if I used my turn signal or what? GFI'w... don't let the negative comments get to ya.... pb |

Of course then you would have to be worried about them throwing the book at you so to speak if you did. They sure can be messed up. Thanks for the positive input. My husband was moving quite a bit yesterday! He dropped in Portland and then his first pick up was in Vancouver, Wa he dropped and did another pick up in I believe it was Chehalis.
Then up to Kent Washington. Next he will be going to Spokane, Washington and his final drop will be in Post Falls. This trip he drove for about 90 miles with the OD signs out. His total miles for the trip will be 475. He had three pick ups and four drops. He was going to attempt to get over Snowqualmi Pass last night but did not make it. He said he chained up and went over around 4:00 this morning. He said that at one point they had the Eastbound completely closed due to car accidents and that all vehicles were requiring chains. He said it was slow going with the chains on because he could only do around 25mph. He still hates to chain but realizes that sometimes he will have to with the short runs. I did not even know he chained until after the fact so it was HIS decision as it always is. Not even a suggestion from me this time! Goin Fer It's Wife |
WOW you mean you didnt demand him to chain up....baaad girl!!

My husband had a interesting and busy day yesterday.
As I stated he chained up in the morning and it was slow going through the pass. Then he arrived at his drop in Spokane to find out that the load was on two different places on his trailer. The receiver in Spokane did not want to touch the product or move it over for the receiver in Post Falls because of liability reasons. So my husband dropped a portion of the load in Spokane then went to Post Falls to drop that load. On the way back to Spokane he was pulled over at the scale heading into Washington  He had a level three inspection and everything was up to date in his logs he said he passed it with flying colors. Then he went back to his drop in Spokane to finish the drop. He picked up some railroad ties just down the road. He spent the night at the yard in Spokane at System Transport. This morning he will be dropping in Umatilla Oregon. This will be around 170 miles plus the 20 miles to Spokane. This Friday we will get our first check from System Transport :D It has been a long time since our last check from Davis and we are welcoming it. My temp agency is super slow right now and I am thinking about going to a few others to find some work to help things along! Goin Fer It's Wife |

My husband will be coming home today :D After he dropped his load in Spokane he received an OD load going to Tacoma. He said he things he is moving some type of bridge support or something. It is two big concrete things.
 System Transport does not use trip pak so last week when he was kept out instead of going into the yard Friday he had to mail in his time and miles. This morning when I checked the bank account we only had the money in the account for the first couple days he worked there. He is going to call the office this morning and see if they can do something as we NEED the money from last week also. It has been almost a month since his last check at Davis Transport and there is no way we can go another two weeks without a check and only have the $323.00 that was deposited in our account to live on. I know System Transport is not Davis but I hope they will work something out and help us get this straightened out. I have to get ready for work I have another short assignment for a week or two. Can't your husband get a cash advance off of his fuel card? Most companies will do that or issue a Comcheck advance.Have him ask his fleet manager.

I will truely pray that something can be worked out as far as the money goes....I KNOW how it is....been there done that.
things will work out they always do....I hope. tootie |

I was a very very BAAD BAAD girl today too! I spent about $160.00 that we really don't have right now but it was for a once and a life time deal. This one I could not pass up! But once we get through this I will still have the things I spent this money on. So they asked us if we wanted to work tomorrow and I will be going in on my birthday for being a BAAD Girl! :D Goin Fer It's Wife |
No TransFlo? If not, isn't something paid through qualcomm/dispatch loaded/empty calls?
With a 2-week pay cycle there must be something in their "system" to make sure a driver gets paid. Heck a busy driver could go a month or more without a pay check. If nothing else, can't he fax the trip sheets when fueling? |

 Well now we find out that tarp pay is only $30.00 and not $40.00.
Also with the drop and pick up pay it depends upon the customer so my husband may or may not get it. One thing at Davis Transport everything was understood about pay and what you would get or not get up front. At System Transport this understanding has changed! My husband said when he has a question and ask his DM the DM has an attitude like he is put out. He said his DM is not very helpful. My husband said his DM's assistant is very helpful and friendly but he only gets him occasionally when his DM is out to lunch or something. :) My husband will be getting a new DM soon as this one will be transferring into a different department. So far my husband has gotten January 2-4 760 miles January 7-11 1,280 miles January 14-18 2,368 miles Last week was the first time he will hit the thousand dollar mark on his check. When he got his OD load he asked his DM what was needed for it. He was not told about what he would need for night time driving and he was VERY fortunate that he did not get pulled over or else he could have gotten a $1,500 ticket. He was told by the other drivers what he should have had for night time driving when he arrived to drop the load. At night time he needed all four corners with the reflective triangles and he needed the big flasher on top of the truck. Goin Fer It's Wife |
:D Yesterday I went to work for six and half hours. I turned 22 again!!!!!
I let my husband take care of all the stuff I would have had to do. He started early by driving my son to Spokane to a speech meet then he went up and got Nana and took her shopping and on her errands. He did run by my work and drop me off a flower and card for my birthday! When I got off work I went shopping for a few things we needed from the store, got gasoline and attempted to retrieve my wayward cat. After getting home I helped my daughters make a brownie cake for my birthday and then made dinner. My husband said he was exhausted and had been gone ALL day just running around! I told him (jokingly) that was why I went to work so he could have my day!!!!! :D Then after a short nap my husband picked up my son from Post Falls around 7:30 pm after he was done with his speech meet. I know Friday he did not get home until actually around 12:30 am Saturday and since I had a cup of coffee before I went to pick him up I could not get to sleep until around 2:00 am so neither of us got allot of sleep that night. Tomorrow morning I will drop him off in the yard in the morning and then go back to work. In spring we will get his car registered again. A new battery and put it back on the insurance that way he will just leave his car at the yard in Spokane and he will be able to drive himself to and from the yard. When I put my sons car on the insurance I took my husbands off since he was not driving it at all and it was sitting in the drive way with a dead battery. So another week begins soon in our adventures. And it will all work out even though I did go on my spending spree this week. I got a very very expensive complete wardrobe. I now will not have to back to good will for more work clothes!!! I am temping at Coldwater Creek a very ritzy womens clothing place and either two or three times a year they put out their samples and allow their employees to purchase them for very very cheap. I had asked if the temps could also participate and I was told we were welcome too. I was there at the right day!! At the start it was $5.00 for the suits and $3.00 for the separate items. Then it went to a dollar an item then at the very end of the day when allot of the stuff was picked through it was $1.00 a bag. They only had size 8 cloths mainly and most fit but I still need to lose some weight for some to look good on me, others look fine. I got my daughters a whole box of size 6 shoes for $1.00. Some of them they can already wear some they will need to grow into. I think they got around 23 pairs of shoes around $1,000 dollars worth. And the clothes I got must be at least worth $5,000 or $6,000 dollars worth for $160.00 dollars. It makes up for the poor wage I am getting on this assignment. And now I am set for work cloths. My husband got four hundred dollars off of his cards and I am going to borrow some money from my mom! I am still checking the mail box for my birthday card from my stepmother (my dad use to always be late too) I should be getting a check for three days this Friday! I am not sure if I am on the automatic deposit or if they will mail it to me. I will have to call and find out. It was a few years ago when I signed up with the temp agency I am out with now! By next Tuesday I will be able to write checks at one store and one gas station as they do not go through until Friday! Others go through on Thursday so I cannot shop or write checks at certain places or I get hit with overdraft. So it will all work out! I just hope that the next check is more of a full one. I know we have at least one full week and if it looks like he will be out and may not be home earlier this next week he will mail what he has in early. Goin Fer It's Wife |

Don't take this wrong. I have been reading your posts off and on for a while. The posts consistently use "allot" when "a lot" should be used. A lot (two words) is an informal phrase meaning "many, or little with the right modifier" It can take an adjective, for example, "a sizeable lot." allot: Main Entry: al·lot Pronunciation: \?-?lät\ Function: transitive verb Inflected Form(s): al·lot·ted; al·lot·ting Etymology: Middle English alotten, from Anglo-French aloter, from a- (from Latin ad-) + lot, of Germanic origin; akin to Old English hlot lot Date: 15th century 1 : to assign as a share or portion <allot 10 minutes for the speech> 2 : to distribute by or as if by lot <allot seats to the press> Thanks. |

She has been using allot incorrectly since the first crash with May. Once is an aberration, twice is a trend. Making the same mistake for a couple years is indicative of her being unaware of the problem.
FWIW, I have been telling my wife for +20-years that tomorrow is tomorrow, not tomarrow. She still uses tomarrow. She's Italian. They do things like that.
