Who delivers for McDonald's in the Northeast?

Hi,

Does anyone know which company delivers for places like Burger King and Mcdonald's (I know SYGMA does Wendy's) in the northeast? I'm specifically from NYC and interested in the surrounding areas.

Thanks

After looking at their site I guess the only distribution site in the north east is in Rochester,NY. In my area. I thought they were a little more prominent in the north east. Here's another that comes to mind other than the big Mclane, Sysco, Sygma companies...http://www.maines.net/

All the trucks delivering to Mickey D's in the NE that I have seen, had MD Transportation, on the doors.

Thanks TK and Orange! I have a lot more research to do, a lot of companies out there, just have to find them.

kimoyo,
seeing that you are from the NYC area, here is a list to start you out if you intrested in foodservice:
AFI-PFG;Elizabeth,NJ(exit 13A off the NJ pike). Runs the area, home daily
Ferraro Foods; Piscataway,NJ(exit 7 off 287) Runs the area, local and regional
Roma Foods;Piscataway,NJ. Can't help here, never dealt with them, just talked to a few of there drivers before and know they deal with alot of Pizza shops.

Thanks Double R,

I should have my CDL by 1/09/08, any suggestions on who would take students. I found the NYC McD's food haulers but they want 2 years experience. Thanks for the links!

Also, I spoke to a few companies and they are saying drivers avg in the mid 60K to 70K. You will work probably 70 hours but is this true? Is that because its the NE?

you can definitely make that amount of money driving (working) for a grocery/food distributor. It's a lot of work, but at least you're home almost everyday, if not everyday, and you make good money. I'm averaging $1200 weekly and this is the slow time of the year.

60k-70k:Once you get a couple years in and get a good paying route. Starting try high 40's to low 50's if your home daily and mid 50's if you run regional.
As for 70 hours a week, I have never even come close to that and I use to go from Pittsburgh to NJ twice a week. Averaged around 54-56 hours a week. Now, if you are on a local route in the area that you live in, it might be close to 70 hours.
As for the two years experience, fill out an app at some of these places and see what happens. Some of them may take you right out of school if the school has a good rep. Foodservice deliver is a hard job and alot of drivers quit after the first week. The company that I work for is part of UPS and requires two years experience BUT they have hired drivers right out of school. We go through drivers like water. It takes the right kind of person to do this job; they got to be CRAZY like me. Four years of foodservice delivery and counting! :D

Any more questions feel free to ask.

What kind of delivery? Grocery stores or foodservice(rest.,Pizza shops, etc)
We are slow to and this should be a busy time with new years and all.

Thanks Davenport and Double R

Double R - if you don't mind me asking, who do you work for? If you want to keep it confidential please pm (I can't pm back though).

Right now I was thinking about working for a milk company. Basically have to do 3 overnights getting above 1200 if they took me. Just wondering how many hours I would have to work total. Guy told me to call back after the 9th but I may give a call sooner.

The other I was thinking about was Sygma. They told me it would be 3 overnights also but with a team (not sure how much each guy gets to sleep though). Similar money but seems like it would be around 70hours a week.

The other thing is that the milk job might give me the ability to park the truck and spend the night at home.

Re: Who delivers for McDonald's in the Northeast?

I delivered a load of sugar to a Micky D's DC in Chambersburg, PA. Can't remember what the outbound trucks were. I was pre-occupied with slipping my load through that had a non-spec company seal, instead of the "bolt" seal. Them big signs about rejecting loads without the correct seal are BS!!!!!!!

davenport - do you like it? I also got a chance to work for C&S but was liking doing 3 overnights instead of 5-6 days. Who are you pulling for? You guys must go in Manhattan, there's a c-town around the corner from me. I always thought they had straight trucks delivering stuff.

I used to drive for Prairie Farms Dist. delivering McDs in a tri state area and the reason for needing the "right" seals is because corp. McD is afraid of someone contaminating in/out bound product. A load of 42 oz cups came in with the wrong seal and the driver was sent to the land fill to dump the whole load.

i like my job. i do 3 three routes a week and make $1300. I drive for Mclane Grocery Distribution out of Rocky Mount, NC. We only cover NC, some VA, and some WV and some SC. I can't imagine what it would be like delivering in big cities like Manhattan. :o

Oh what fun it is to back a 48' trailer into a really small parking lot  .
Kimoyo, as for who I work for, PJ Foodservice(Papa John's Pizza) delivering to the stores in DC area twice a week and one trip a week to Columbus,Oh. We run teams out and back, like what Sygma told you they do. As for when you sleep, you split the route with the other driver. One drives out and the other sleeps, and then switch that one the return.
