Knight Tans. Volvos or Cretes Frieghtliner for comfort

Can somebody with experience driving these 2 trucks give some advice on the differents in comfort levels of these two trucks for someone who gets lower back pain driving. Or isn't there much difference! Thanks.......... Which company would you pick!

Freightliner Century is one of the crappiest riding trucks around ,and the basic specd seating freighliner puts in them for big fleets they have some of the most punishing seats around for an 11hr day ...most don't even have arm rests put on them , and you have to modify the seat yourself to get the seat to be anything but almost a 90 degree angle...Without even riding a Volvo I can say that it would be more comfortable than a Century ...

We have Freightliners.......I don't have any lower back pains, but it gets my tailbone area pretty raw after 5-6 hours.....Thankfully I only run 3 days a week.......

Both Crete and Knight run base model trucks. I've driven both of them.

The Volvo has a multi axis air ride cab as opposed to Freightliners two air bag system which makes Volvo a MUCH smother ride. Although it takes a little getting used to because while the truck frame is holding onto the road, the cab is off doing it's own thing. You'll feel like you floating around a bit until you become accustom to it. The one positive for Freightliner here is that you can get a better "feel" of the road.

Volvo also used less fiberglass in it's construction and is far more quieter ride than the Freightliner. No annoying air leaks in the cab(notorious in Freightliners) or water leaks around the windshields.

Knight runs the 670 Volvo. They are small and have less storage than the Freightliner.

As far as the seats go, these are both base model trucks with base model seats. I can't place one above the other.

Crete trucks do have arm rests, not sure about Knight trucks.

Over all, I prefer the Volvo truck and the Crete paycheck.

So I drive a Freightliner :?

Wow if you're saying Freightliner has good road feel compared to a Volovo then volvo's must be one scary ride , because the centuries I drove at Werner felt like I was on a boat when making turns or curves... Now The 387 and T-600 I had issued at werner had good road manners and had comfortable seats infact the 387/T-600 road better bobtail than the century did loaded ...The 387 had better storage , But the T-600 had a better road feel , and the 07 T-600 had one cool dash for a base model truck , and had a nice automatic fifth wheel release on it plus the seats on the 387 /T-600 were by far better than the century , but the T-600 was the best with it's captains chairs ...Thinking about this now I'm scared to go back to driving a Freightliner .

The "base" seats Knight has in the Volvo's are far more comfortable and have a greater range of adjustment than any base model seat freightliner ever though about putting in a truck.

The only thing the Freightliner used at Crete has over the Volvo's at Knight is a larger sleeper with more storage, but as long as you are flying solo it won't matter much since you can always use the top bunk for extra storage room.

If you like your kidneys drive a Volvo. Freightliners are junk throwaway trucks. They shake rattle and roll like you are in a blender.

The Volvo rides like a Cadillac, smooth and quiet.

I have owned both trucks and I still have my Volvo. Best truck I ever drove.

The Volvo comes with an Isringhauser (ISRI) seat, that is very adjustable compared to the National seat. But Schneider has centuries, But with the top model (Century S.T.) and a top of the line drivers seat. 8)

Thanks for all the good insight.I appreciate it. I wander if i could have crete put in a top of the line drivers seat if i pay for it. If they will even take me back to work for them that is. Anybody know!
