About Knight. I'm finishing up my 3rd month with them now and except for the week before last, I've averaged $800-1000/week. I'd say I personally have about a 60/40% ratio of drop & hook / Live load. Would like more D&H actually but some weeks are better than others.
I'm headed out again on Monday and will be driving with a friend that I met in CDL school last Dec. and we'll be team driving. That's 42/mile v 34/mile and they tell us that teams get priority on loads, maintenance, etc. It's going to be tough sleeping at first so we'll probably stop most days for 4-5 hours of common sleep time but I'm being told that 7000 miles/week should be pretty easy. I'd imagine D&H rates will go up too. We shall see. The one big complaint that I have about Knight is their lack of trailers. I spent 6 hours in Atlanta one time hunting down an empty. They paid me local pay but IMO, $12/hour just isn't worth driving around in Atlanta traffic. If you do sign on with Knight and have to spend the night in a terminal empty, don't disconnect if you want to keep that trailer. That's my 2 cents. |
