Heartland
I would like to more about this company any info please. I check their website out but need driver piont of view. can you make any money and miles ? I like to run at least 3500 or 4500. :)

heartless
you can not even come close to 3000 miles. They want you to sit all day and pick up loads at night that only go 300 miles. I would avoid them.
|
Even if they kept you moving it would be very difficult to get 3500+ miles every week in a governed truck.

They are a cheap outfit. Ran for them for about 6 weeks, was all I could take.
They are a pain about fuel, want you to fuel at terminals even if you have to run out of route to do and will not pay for the extra miles. Their drivers have to pay for showers alot b/c they don't get shower credits since fueling at termials mostly. Will sit / swap loads to run 250-300 miles at night. They are the king of short haul loads.Don't be fooled by their pay .....there are alot better companies to work for that will treat you alot better. For me the pay rate did not offset the negatives of working for them |
I second the sentiments here.
They only do short haul crap. Load by 1700, run all night, unload by 0700, spend the day waiting on reload or driving to reload, then repeat. They do not pay for your dock time, unless it goes over 8 hours. You will discover that alot of your dock time is around 7 hours, hence no pay for all that sitting. They like to micromanage everything you do. Except the people doing the micromanaging have never driven a truck for a living, and as such have no real clue as to what you go through. But it looks good on paper. Some days you can expect to do several reloads in a day. You can imagine what a 500 mile day is like when you have to load and empty at least twice in that day. If you advise them that you cannot legally or safely make a scheduled appointment, they will tell you that it is OK, but they will not change your appt, and they will charge you with a service failure. Your service failures are the excuse they will use not to pay you any of the bonuses they hype. Breakdown pay only after 24 hours. Expect to fight them about hotel reimbursement. They think you should be able to get a hotel room for $20. All fueling to be done at terminals only, except in rare occasions where you will only be allowed to fuel at Pilot. So expect to either pay for your showers or take them when you arrive at a terminal. Either way, the showers will be crappy. 64MPH trucks. Get used to waving at JB Hunt when they blow by you, and get used to being stuck behind Swift, because you can't pass them in less than 20 miles. Bare bones trucks. Still want to drive for them? |

They are called Heartless Express for a reason. |
With Heartland as a Solo driver they told me you'll basicly stay east of the Mississippi River. Average haul 600 miles.

That said, I know Highwayman. I like Highwayman. We happen to disagree on a few things Heartland. And you know something? That's OK. There are a few people on this board that could learn something about diverse opinions being an OK thing. Carry on. |
