Hello everyone, The wife and I are new to the trucking industry and are considering driving for Covenant. Does anyone work for or have firsthand knowledge of the company? Thanks

Run do not Walk away from them. They claim to be christain based yet force all new drivers to sign away Workmans Comps rights now. They are now inderinvestigation for that in the State of TN and also do a search for topics on them and find out more about them, the fact they make you pay for chains for the truck and a whole bunch of other things does not put them to high on my list. For a good Husband Wife team company look at either CFI Crete or Earl Henderson.

You can do a search on them here and on other sites by using the search function....just use their company name as the search word.

I might suggest very strongly that you talk to Christine Lathan at CFI Recruiting....1-800-641-4748 if you are interested and looking at solo or team. I worked for them for 7 years, and they are a good company to work for. You can also go over to http://www.cfidrivers.com and log on and discuss your questions with drivers at CFI....both old and new.

I would not say Covanant Transport was the worst company I ever drove for, but one could not put a hair between them and the worst.

I am a current covenant driver. I will agree with you all to a point. They do not make you sign your workmans comp away. They allow you to come to the main terminal or one closest to your house to make 8 an hour and work in the office. You can either take the money you get from workman comp and sit on your lazy ass or you can do all you can to help the other drivers for your company. I do not understand people who bash a company. Also show me the proof of where they are under investigation by Tenn. I gotta see this.

OFF my back. I for one would have never driven for a company that forced drivers to buy equipment for the truck and then has the guts to then charge you for it if you do not return it when you quit. I have talked to more than one ex-Covenant driver who has had this happen to them and they are not happy about it.

For $8/hr I'll sit on my fat ass and collect workman's comp. And please do tell us how working in the office helps other drivers? I'm eagerly awaiting the answer to that one! :lol: :lol: :lol:

What is that truck #34525367 you can't find trailer #465374 in East BF Egypt, it should be there. It isn't, well let me transfer you to someone who gives a 5h1t. Oh, I am sorry, he left for the day and the next rat in line is busy on the phone. We will look into it and message you on that keyboard that beeps thingey you have in the truck.

Yet again it comes back to ex drivers who 9 times out of 10 got fired. as far as paying for equipment I have bought a set of chains while in Utah and sent the receipt in and got all my money back. As far as tires they want you to bring blown ones back to one of the yards since they get a discount when buying new ones. if you dont take them back you get charged 150 dollars. pretty damn simple i think. as far as workmans comp you can look at it anyway you want. if you fell out of your truck and hurt your arm there is no reason you should not work for your money. if you feel you shouldn't you must be that lazy trucker who parks in the fuel island for 3 hours

If you fell and hurt your arm so bad, that you "have" to take pain meds, I would be sitting on my butt at home. Why would I want to be at work hurting, and using my arm answering phones and filing plus take the chance of being pulled for a drug test? Not to mention having to "drive to work" while on pain meds. That's just as bad as driving a truck on meds. Not going to happen!

Lazy trucker? Nope.... called using your head.
Get out of the office and drive for a living, or work construction, then come back and tell us what you would do if you got hurt. Depending on the injury the more you use it "when told not to" the longer the pain and injury last, not letting yourself heal.

After receiving our pre-hires for Covenant, my husband decided to give the recruiter a call. To make a long story short, my husband got right to the point..."What's this I hear about Covenant being under investigation for workman's comp in TN?" Her reply??? She didn't know anything about it. She put him on hold. Surely to ask someone there, "What should I tell this guy?" When she got back on the line, my husband proceeded to read from the Insurance Journal indeed stating that they were under investigation and have a hearing scheduled for April 24. He was put on hold again. When she returned she simply stated that she had no knowledge of any investigation or hearing. Do you really want to go to work for a company like that???? We sure don't. He very politely told the woman thank you and that was all he needed to know.

Totally understandable. I have yet to have any problem with them other than refund for a truck wash but that only took a day to work out. Other than that I am getting about 2800 miles a week and have yet to have them screw me. Who knows though it could be next week.

You both have your CDL's and want to run together right then try Earl Henderson they are a company the repects their drivers and I for one would still be there if I was not forced off the road due to Epilepsy. They respect you and treat you like a family memeber not a number.

Covenant drivers prefer little girls I hear. ;)

LOL you all know this is just a job. We all have good and bad things to say about some company out there. I just live by the way of trusting till done wrong.

I dont know why everyone has such a problem with Covenant, My wife & I drove for them for two years ( untill she got sick) & we constantly did $1800 to $2500 per wk Net as co drivers. She was in the hospital for a week and although we didnt get any pay, they kept my tanks full, it was winter in NY, and advanced me all the $$ I needed to take a bus from Middletown NY to NYC every day to be with her. Before that happened we took the truck to disneyworld for 10 days for off time. Its true it can take Quite a few days to get your truck serviced in Chatt. but I found if you put in a work order with a $20 attached to it your in & out in about five hrs. Thats more than worth the money. Learn how to live out here & stop crying, Covenant works if you let them

$20 eh? If I saw you do that and you ended up getting serviced before me when I was ahead of you, well, lets just say you would never do it again.
