I work for myself, with my own authority. I am considering adding 2 trucks due to business needs. But I dread the thought of having employees again.

Now that you said that I have been paying attention to the HHG carriers. All of the nice big pretty stretched sleeper trucks I see on the road are Allied or United. I have yet to see good looking Graebel truck on the road.

Find an Allied or United truck that is THIS long:

And BTW: I smoked both of their a$$es last year in the HHG revenue contest. 8)

I did $182,600 last year on 54,941 miles. And that included a full 16 weeks of home time.

I'm not asking to start an argument, Just that when I was looking at this company a long time ago, no one had any real info. It would be nice to hear what others have heard/experienced good or bad. I'm staying here either way. But there maybe some other people who could benefit from what information you may have.

RE-FREGGIN-DICULOUS

That has got to be a pure highway truck. No way I could imagine trying to get that down sub-burb streets, let alone some off ramps/on ramps. Does the driver get pulled over often. If I was a cop I would, just to get a look inside that thing.

BanditsCousin 03-16-2007 04:09 PM

Greabel...United...Bekins... its all the same thing with a different name on the truck

United is the largest moving company out there, but Allied claims to have hauled the most shipments annually (2006 figures). Bedbuggers tend to have bigger trucks for the obvious and non-obvious reasons. Spending money so Uncle Sam doesn't get it is on of the non-obvious reasons.

The Rev did NOT smoke anyones asses   ...I did 80K in 3 months, and he did a proportionate amount, but made more because he ran more months.

Bandit-12 weeks ....80/12= $6600/wk

Rev-52-16weeks = 36 weeks..$182000/36=$5055/wk

Food for thought.

I am working for a local construction company here in N. California. Most of the work is paving, but we have done a few chip sealing jobs and other little things this past summer.

The pay is good, not great but good. The owners, a father and son team, are laid back and take pride in doing a job the right way vs the quick way. There has been many times that the owners have told us drivers that there is no hurry to get to the job, they just want eveyone to be safe. We only have maybe 10 employees. including the owners and the women in the office.

The equipment isn't brand new or anything, but does get the job done. Whenever something needs to be fixed it is done quickly. And the whole crew of guys gets along really well and we all help each other out.

Probably the biggest reasons why i have stuck it out with this company is that they are only about a five minute drive from where i live, and it's nice when $20 worth of gas can last about 2 weeks. And we don't work in Sacramento much, so we rarely put up with much traffic, cuz as some of you may know Sacramento traffic sux most of the time. 8)

I stay with CFI because of the new equipment, great miles and outstanding pay. CFI gets loads that are simple to haul. Few need scaled out. The dispatching is very effective and keeps me rolling with little downtime. The new trucks keep me on the road and out of the shop.

Can't say I have seen that specific tractor..but plenty of the "Bedbuggers" run similar tractors. Notice that Rev has a heavy-duty front axle there?

Super Single on it Rev??

Not sure that's rev's truck. Pretty sure he runs a 379.
