Transport America

Looking for information on Transport America out of Eagan, MN. I reside within 100 miles of their Janesville, WI yard and am very interested in the 7/7 or 14/7 fleet.

What areas do they run? I have 1 1/2 years experience and last drove OTR in April 2006. Running a warehouse now and God help me, I miss driving. Thanks in advance

I sent you a PM as to who you could get information from.... :D

Thanks Skywalker, I'm on it

I too would like some "inside information" on Transport America as there does not appear to be much discussion about them. Is that a good or bad thing?

That could be a good thing, content people usually don't complain much.

I've heard good things about them. Had a pre-hire from them a few months back and just got another letter from them a few days ago telling me that they'd still love for me to come to orientation, etc...

They have a few nice perks. Detention pay is $16, Layover is $150. Kinda makes you wonder if they have to pay that out much. I talked to one driver who said he loved them. He got home every weekend and still got great miles. He said that the monthly bonus was fairly easily obtained also. Seemed like he had found a good fit for him. I've heard that the first truck you get assigned will usually be one of the crappier units in the fleet, but if you stay with them and keep your nose clean you get a brand new truck at your 1 year anniversary.

They do have a fairly informative website compared to a lot of others out there. I felt like the recruiter I talked to was very fair and honest, but she could have just been good at what she does, I guess.

Good luck.

Redsfan~ thanks for the post. I have been impressed with their website too but it's the drivers who have the real information not the web designer and as you implied "no news is good news". I have a prehire from them but not starting CDL school until 03/05. I would welcome any further comments good or bad.

Yeah, good luck finding their drivers on here though. I haven't seen, but a couple. I talked to a couple out on the road and talked to one driver at length one day at a Pilot. Probably your best bet is to watch for them out at the truckstops and talk to them there.

I sent "Couch" a PM on cfidrivers....so hopefully he'll get it and come and help y'all out. I gave him the link to this thread, so he'll hopefully check his messages soon.

I'm pretty sure we are going with them if you want to send us a PM after you get out of school we will tell you what we think at that point :)

I completed orientation last week, I was assigned my trainer before the end of orientation and went out on Sunday. I just completed my first week out, I have around 2500 miles. So far I have to say they have lived up to their promises, I am very happy.

I am in Laredo, Tx right now, waiting for my hours to drop off at midnight. We should have another load tomorrow. Most of the drivers that I have talked to are happy.
