My husband is waiting to be unloaded in Omaha, NE. Once he gets unloaded (by 3 am tonight) he will pick up a load in IA to bring back to TX, then HOME!!! It's been a long 4 weeks this time.

Since I still haven't gotten around to posting weekly mileage, I thought I'd do the next best. This most recent check of my husband's contains a safety bonus, 1 cent for each mile ran last quarter (I'm presuming January-end of March). Total miles for the quarter are 33,537 :)

NICE BONUS!

I did about 3200 miles last week before hometime.
Now I am on a run from Kentucky to Durant, Texas. It's 1100 miles and delivers tomorrow @ 9am. That may be all I see on this weeks pay.

I unloaded this morning. Got my new load assignment about 11am.

I deadhead to Liberal, Kansas. Then off to Atlanta. 1570 miles, drops on Sunday morning. I will still have 4 days to run for the next check after this one drops.

You were right, hometime hurts the wallet, but does a lot for the family.
My next hometime will be taken early June in Nags Head, NC. Doing a little mini-vacation!

Well, I got to Liberal, KS and the load was not ready. It was about 18 hours late.

Before I even picked it up, they t-called it. Seems I am supposed to drop it in Nashville, and get a load going to Dallas.

I picked up the other load and am in  West Memphis for the night.

My new load delivers tomorrow at 7pm.
So that makes about 2100 miles and I still have 3 days left to run.

Get used to it. Thats the extreme but my husband has yet to pick up there without it being extremely late.

Glad to see they're running you :) Hope it keeps going well for you.

My husband just left this morning after 6 days home! We went to a camp meeting with our church and had a grand time, and he was able to have several days at home as well.
He was originally supposed to get home by 8 pm on Wednesday, and go back this Tuesday, but since they weren't able to get him home until Thursday morning they gave him an extra day before he had to be back. Apparantly thats their solution to not getting you home by their "guaranteed" time. He had a shipper delay things enough that a tightly scheduled load became a delay.
He picked up today in Mesquite, TX, headed for Amarillo to drop. He picked up at 3 pm, and the drop in amarillo was supposed to be at 4 am tomorrow, but he won't be able to make that. He was required to be in his truck by 7:30 this morning, so ran out of hours and became very sleepy so it wasn't safe for him to continue to drive.

We are coming up on our 6 month mark with TransAm, and at some point have to decide whether to reapply with a company that told him to check back after 6 months, or whether to stay with TransAm. If he stays it will be for another 6 months-1 year, and if he leaves it will mostly be so he can get home more often.

I lost count of deliveries. I am pretty tired, and homesick.

I know I did 2945 miles plus this load is over 700. It will be delivered at 5:30am even though I could have dropped it tonight.

So my total for the week is 3645 miles. :sleepy:

I talked to my wife today and she put my son on the phone (he's 3).

"Dad... is this my dad? Where are you dad? What are you doing dad? I love you."

Boy that sure tears me up. Sure my wife has it rough. But where she only misses me, I miss my family. My pain is amplified.

There are aspects I love about driving a truck. And Trans AM for the most part is doing their job keeping me rolling.

I have a job offer back home. It's just too hard right now to take a 40% pay cut to work locally.

I know it is hard to take a pay cut but just some advice for you. Take the local job and adjust your life style or find a way to supplement your income. Being home everyday with your family is priceless and can never be replaced. I know Trans Am has been good to you but remember the guy dispatching you and all the people in the office get to go home everyday and they cannot even begin to try to know what it is like to be gone weeks at a time.
