I was doing a 34 reset in Denver one time and was sitting in the TA next to an O/O from Schneider doing the same thing.
We got to talking and I have never spoken with a driver so upbeat and happy at his job as he is. Not one bad word about Schneider either. Was driving a red Western Star. |
well ALL owner operators i speak to dont have 1 bad word to say about them....
|
So why are the O/O's so much happier than the company drivers?
Is there that big of a pay and miles difference?? |
i dont know but..im an owner operator and i drive local truckrail in greensboro nc....when i did run the road i was %100 happy with them i ALWAYS stayed pre'd for my next load most was drop and hook..i enjoyed it

just need
I just want to know if its a good company to get expierence i want to at least stay till im supposed to.......(all this being if they accept me i doubt they will i have a felony convicton of burglary in 96 and plus my work history isnt that grand all i can get is temp jobs and such best job i had i was a foreman for utility pole technologies. I had to quit because i was never home but at that time i didnt have custady of my kid now i do)
My goal is to get expierence and then find a local company that does either in state runs or surrounding states i live in indiana. I jsut wish my stupid teenage past wouldnt follow me. I made some really bad chocies in my life im 29 years old still living wiht parents and have nothing to show for it. I jsut want a chance to improve my life and to be able to give my daughter anything she needs. I dont mind the not being home for awhile as long as im building somthing for my daughter for she can have a chance in life. Can anyone help me? If you have the same thing about what iom talking about please show me how you did it. If you dont want to tell me public leave me a personal messege on here. Thank you. Oh on the Schneider application it has people to prove your qork history but not Family. I have no one. |
Best thing you can do is put in an application.....the felony conviction probably isnt a problem if its over 10 years old.....i was just looking at some companies and most say that felony conviction must be 7 years, a few said 10..so that shouldnt be the problem...... 2nd...only thing would be your work history....i know schneider is pretty strict on work history(turned down my 21 yr old bro) but look for a company that does their own training, I.E...... schneider, midwest coast transport, swift, they do it all FREE!!! but you have to stay with them a year, and a year is will give you the experience you need to find a local job cuz most require AT LEAST a year. Good luck..ill be watching your posts

There is nuthin wrong with schneider from my vantage point but you hear horror stories from all companies and schneider is no different...but the do train you free with an 12 month contract
|
Got my start with them back in the Day and it's an ok company to get your start with.
|
I hear they are looking into an 18 month contract now.....

True, because there is no contract at Fontana.....
|
do u drive for SNI..out of Fontana? bumper
|
No, I used to drive for Central Reefer out of Fontana. I had applied with SNI and was told by the recruiter in GB that since I would be going to school in Fontana that there was no contract. The contracts are not legal in California.

SNI Cautious interest
I have been cruising the SNI (Pumpkindriver) web-site & I have to say that my interest in the company is waining. They have quite a bit of anger & distrust in the son's ability to treat them as well as the "ole man". I am really sceptical on a company that may have really good training program, but has a all or nothing responsibility on new hires for payment. This surely leaves the new hire in the hands of the trainers and if the students ability to catch on quickly doesn't pan out then your out a bunch and still have no job?? Maybe I'm wrong but someone would have to convince me otherwise...
|
Tillerman..im not trying to convince you here but your right.......but like i said b4 you have your one that dont work out and one that do.....
|
plus alot of the drivers on pumpkindriver.com are former disgruntled employees :D

Just remember some people over at the Pumpkin Patch website aren't all Pumpkin Patch Drivers. |
If you hunt around you will find some web sites that some Pumpkin drivers have posted. I followed one driver until he completed his first year with them and then stopped doing his blog entries. I PM'd him a couple of times and near the end he sounded like he was going to move on to other opportunities.
He had some equipment issues, and during the holidays like everyone he wasn't getting very many miles and spent a lot of time shuffling trailers around. Once the miles picked up he seemed happy, but then started wanting more home time as he was gone all the time. After a while he was offered some dedicated account runs and that is where he wrapped up his blog working a dedicated account. Overall it does appear to be a good place to get training and to learn the ropes. The downside is they don't pay very well, and have their share of problems. Most will tell you that your better off going to school on your own dime, and then letting a good company reimburse you for your training. Plus your not endentured to them for any commitment time... Of course if your in CA that won't matter much. BOL Longsnowsm |
I just went through the training at STA in Green bay and although they had some nice equipment they cram a full CDL course into 2 weeks. !/3 of my class was sent home because they required more time then the week or so they were given to catch on to driving a truck. The sad part of it is they are being charged a prorated fee for the training they did receive. Most of them probably would have been good drivers given a normal pace to absorb the information given. If I was to do it again I would go to a private school and stay away from the CDL mills

Schneider? Never heard of them.
