I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. Thanks for all the concern and advice. They say everything happens for a reason, maybe this is my opportunity to do what I've always wanted. jonp I live just south of Asheville, and GMAN I am sure I would have to take a refesher course when I start but like i said they are not closing the plant till the last of march and then they gave us a generous severance package so I've got some time to decide what direction I want to go. Thanks again for the advice I need all the help I can get.

It is good that you have some time to decide what you want to do, Carolina Reb. Many don't hear about a plant closing or business shutting down until after the fact. It gives you time to explore your options. Spring is usually better for this business so if you do decide to drive things should be better than the winter months. It will give you several months of driving to get your feet wet before things slow down again in the fall and winter. Keep us posted as to what you decide to do.

Tmc

Hi everyone I have a quick question for any current tmc driver on here, is tmc still hiring student drivers because I saw on the website that thier asking for a one year experience is this true? And is tmc still assigning 387 pete to there drivers, and how is the idle policy at tmc? Thanks for any replies.

Good to hear that you have some time to make a decision. I think that most of the JBHunt drivers come from people that are out of work and need a job so take the first thing they can find. Like me. Now that you have a minute to get over the initial shock and the "omg i'm going to be out of work" period you can sit down and really think about it. Sorry to hear about your job.

I remember when the paper mill that I hauled out of closed down. A real small town and 300+ out of work. Closed down a bunch of businesses. Its one of the reasons I moved south.

you might have seen me parking my truck there... when I quit my 13 week average gross was $916.

Mr. Ford95 05-07-2010 09:46 AM

Dude that is better than mine where I am. It was a weekly gross of $560 from Thanksgiving till just a month ago. Last month I've seen a $739, $1080, $713 and $739 for a 4 week avg. gross of $817. It might rise a tad more but it won't be up where you were. Then again are the headaches worth it for what you were seeing there, prolly not. Good luck with your next gig CB.
