What is your prior experience?
With 2 or more years of verifiable trucking experience, the answer is yes, since you should start around .38 cents per mile, plus bonuses (too complicated to explain on the list). It would not matter what part of the country your freight is coming or going to on this scale. Winter months are really better for mileage, spring and summer, percentage almost always wins out, unless you run west allot! Fresh out of school, or less than two years experience, the answer is no, your starting cpm would be around .26 or .28, can't remember. In this scenario, you would do much better on percentage, and try to stay above I -40 and east of I-35, the rates are better up there! The first 90 days will suck, waiting for your first snapshot, so work hard to get the bonus points, so your percentage will jump up. There were 2 newbies that went thru about the same time as I did orientation, they went from 26% to 30% on the first snap-shot. It takes work, patience and attention to details, but you can get there!

IMO a slightly-better-than-average longhaul driver who does what he's told, doesn't complain, and gets his loads P/D on time should have no problem averaging 1k/week getting home every other weekend. |

Sorry but I haven't been keeping up lately, so if this question has already been covered I apologize. Is TMC going to Volvo's? I saw one today on I-40 eastbound about the Tx, Ok state line and it was beautiful. A 780, white basic color, with familar TMC striping but done differently than the Pete's and KW's. Didn't know if it was an O/op or if they are switching or just testing them out. It would make a lot of drivers jealous including myself. Just wondering, thnx.

More than likely an O/O! If it was a TMC unit, I saw one on I-45 last week that had marking similar to a TMC unit, but could not get close enough to read the actual lettering. It did not have a Qualcomm dome and was pulling a RGN!
I cannot see TMC going to Volvo, much less going with white! Black and Chrome is pretty much their identity! The TDT trucks out of Florida are White and Orange, KW's if I remember correctly!

You are being tested for your will to work at TMC. If you are patient and persistent with recruiting you can probably talk them into a job. Having a good attitude is essential. Good luck. |

When I get in that is… At TMC you will be regulated as to how much you can drive. They expect you to run by the rules, so you may not be able to just "drive, drive, drive" I would say that your $$ expectations are good, however there are a lot of opportunities in the Detroit area. I believe that the radius your looking at is the home weekly area, so longhaul, may differ Longhaul is good for those who want $$, because a fleetmanager is able to give you a load based on miles or $$, not hometime. So you may find yourself anywhere on any given day. on anyother note, a friend swapped trucks in Indy wednesday, and he sent me a pic of the lot. There were bobtails everywhere, not good, but maybe what they want...a slow down of trucks?? Also, I heard that many of the new Pete 388's went back, im not sure if this is true, or why they went back, problems? money? |
