All of you truckers stay safe out there, and if you are ever in WV welcome to the "hill billy" state. Maybe some of us are too busy to be on here trying to recruit drivers. I found out a long time ago WHEN YOU FIND SOMETHING GOOD, KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT! It's up to you to find your own sweet deal. I have, and TMC couldn't hold a candle to it. I cousistently run 3,000+ miles a week....90% drop and hook.....NO TARPING......Oh! and I get a REAL 10 hours break everyday.[/b] |
Never Mind
Never Mind, had something to say ... but it can wait.

I cousistently run 3,000+ miles a week....90% drop and hook.....NO TARPING......Oh! and I get a REAL 10 hours break everyday.[/b] I think that dollar and some others missed the boat on mileage vs percentage. On mileage the idea is to run your ass off to make good money. on percentage the idea is to run short miles and make the same money. In trucking the shorter loads pay better then longer ones. So work less and make more. Why work harder then you have to? Snake wants to bash all the newbies here. As an experience driver (16 years) I have to say that I'm glad to see newbies asking questions and sharing experiences. For non tech drivers the only way to exchange ideas is in the truckstops or at the shippers/receives. Here we can cut the bs and get right to the heart of the matter. First let me say that I see and have become good friends with about 20 TMC drivers that also run Texas dedicated. I have seen the difference between the lazy drivers that show up at a receiver after noon and those like myself that sleep there overnight. I make more money than the lazy ones. Snake_ize makes that sound like a bad thing. I believe in first in first out. But the problems he list are not TMC specific they effect ever flatbed driver that goes into those places. One great thing about TMC over others is that TMC will pay you when your truck is in the shop and provide you with a place to stay. Others companies that I have been with make you sleep in the terminal (no bed) while you make nothing while the truck is in the shop. My truck went in for it's first overhead and a few other problems and I got paid to sit at home for 3 days. Tell me another company that does that. I have a few issues with TMC ($10 tarp pay, lack of shipper since we only use 4 on Texas dedicated, lack of a Texas terminal....besides Laredo.) Other then those I am happy enough that I am may soon buy my own truck and lease it onto TMC. I have always wanted to own my own and now I have a company that I could stay with long term and make very good money. btw I tracked what my truck made for 3 months. I grossed between $14,200 and $15,200 for those 3 months plus a $3000 Fuel surcharge per month with less then 11000 miles per month. I was home all but 1 weekend (my choice) even several time during the week. Best of all, I only left Texas twice. I got to pick up from Morenci, AZ and from Colorado Lava in Antonito, CO. 1 more question?? Dollarshort does the name fit? Sorry, real question. If you've moved onto another company and you are happy with your choices then why are you posting on the TMC board? Are you trying to make recruiting money for your current company? Move on already. |

For Search Engine Optimization (SEO) look for David Castle...he's VERY good. I would've PM'ed you with this but didn't have enough posts under this username... |
Hello All,
Well, made it to DM and checked-in to the motel. Sitting here doing the orientation packet, ughhh, lots of paperwork. Will post on the blog on the bus trip and such in a bit. Louis |
My husband also made it to Des Moines. He says he rode the bus with countryhorseman almost the whole way and didn't even realize it until the very end. I don't have his room number or anything yet but if anybody is there and would like to meet him let me know, pm or here.

Some things never change
First off, hello to all. I'm a former TMC trainee with no gripes about your beloved company. I've moved on, found a better company for my needs, still keep in touch with my trainer, and some of the guys that I attended orientation with. I like seeing you guys out there on the road - it makes me appreciate my job more! It also helps me understand the mind of a trucker who pulls a flatbed. You have to absolutely have a passion for what you do. What I mean by that is, there are plenty of other jobs out there that you could be successful at, do less physical work, get treated better by the office personnel, and make more money. Yet, you choose to stick it out and enjoy what you do for a living. That's dedication! I admire you all for it and wish you all the best. I haven't run into a TMC driver that I didn't like out on the road or who couldn't drive safely. Even though most of the time you're mostly going in the opposite direction.
To all former TMC drivers, leave these guys in peace. The new drivers have already made up their minds, and the seasoned veterans aren't going to let you bash their company freely. There are a variety of things that rubbed us all the wrong way about TMC, so we left for our own personal reasons. There's no reason to disrupt this forum with finger pointing or name calling. In the end, we're all drivers trying to do what's best for our families. Stay safe & keep the rubber side down everyone! |
