Anyone heard of them? I was thinking of trying something new and was thinking food-service. Dont mind the work and being home at night appeals to me but at 44 and climbing dont know how much I could take. I'm in resonable shape, Went to Africa and climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro last year, so I think I could do it ok. Anyone?

Come on, give it a try, you MIGHT like it. Just keep this in mind, FOODSERVICE IS NOT FOR EVERYONE. You have to be alittle bit nuts to do this type of work(or in my case, just completely insane  ).
Never heard of Blue Star though. Are they a private company or are they part of a larger group(like PFG)?
Just remember, you will be soar the first month.

They are right FOODSERVICE ISNT FOR EVERYONE, you bust your butt all day long and running up & down the ramp with a load of food on the handtruck sometimes can be tricky. I worked for SYSCO for 5 years and two days a week in NYC. I miss the job for SYSCO and wish I could go back but not sure if I can do it @ 53 anymore. But after about a month you will be in the swing of things and the PAY WAS GREAT. Just remember you will find muscles in your body you never knew you had around the second day. hehehehe

lol, thanks for the warnings guys. I've worked on a dairy farm, cut pulp and hauled bricks/cement blocks up a ladder for a living so I'm used to knowing every muscle in my body at the end of the day. I think that i will give it a shot and see what happens.
As far as I know, Blue Star is an independent outfit and has terminals all around the country. I'm moving to the Fayetteville, NC area and they are hiring so thought I would give it a shot. Having nights and weekends off sounds good even if I am sore at the end of the day. Hey, I can always quit!
