Now, I am pretty profficient with PC's, so I know what keeps them humming. But computers are just like a car. Keep them tuned up and maintained and they'll never give you a problem. That said, though, I do think a lot has to do with the brands, too. An Apple is an Apple and you know what you're getting. A PC can be absoltuely anything. Some of those brands suck eggs and others, like Dell, are high-end solid systems. But because there are so many players in the PC market, you don't always know what you're getting when you buy a PC. |
I'm thinking of enrolling in a screen writing school ... This school gives you a discount to buy Final Draft at $100 off. I can choose either a Mac or PC version. I have a Toshiba Satellite now but those Macs do look cute. I am thinking of getting a 20 inch iMac in the truck to watch DVD movies... My Toshiba has a 14" screen

PC or nothing. I can build it MY way and that's the way I like it.
that and at least 3 operating systems, so it's hack resistant. |
Mac or PC
due to a divorce, i no longer own a PC. Ive talked to a few people that presently use Mac's. What they tell me is that once you learn them, they are great. I know my way around a PC pretty well. All the little tricks you can do to fix problems. Can i get some opinions from those who are familiar with both? ill be buying a computer in the near future and would like to get some more info on the pros and cons. Thx

MAC MAC and only MAC.
Ever since I've switched to Mac, about two years ago, have not had a single virus or Trojan. Mac is a much better quality too. It's like driving a Kenworth opposed to a Freightliner. |
If I didn't use a lot of specialized applications, I'd go with a PC running Ubuntu as the operating system. There has yet to be a virus on my Ubuntu box. It's easy to use, software installing is way easier than Windows, everything on it is intuitive, free, and open source. Faster than Windows and without all the Microsoft bullying you get with Windows. Mac is for people who have more dollars than cents and no specialized applications or not a lot of external devices. For myself it's not practical. PC all the way.

That's an easy one: PC
Why? Well, every piece of software I use (other than the web browser) is pretty much specific to use on a PC. CoPilot, MS Streets & Trips and countless utility programs that I use on a daily basis. Sure, you can get a Mac and install Windows on it, but guess what, now you have a PC with Apple hardware. Notice that they never released OSX (or any other Mac OS's) for a PC? It's propably be because no PC user would want it. |
PC vs mac
:? My wife is the geek, her computer is like a Red Dot 379, Long- Low- and fast! And I have no idea what mine is? my son-n-law is a systems engineer and he built it for me!, I think of it like an old Henway when rottknockers came as standard adjusters ( you old timers remember back that far? )haven`t seen on of them in a long time! right up there with the Auto-Car! :D
