The "Word" is not something that can be enforced by the United State government. You can have and enforce you "word" all you like in your own personal life. Other groups can live by the rules they set fourth. I am a believer in words, it seems however that we've become a country that cannot follow a few simple ones.

If you'd like to see what countries ran by "the word" are like, perhaps you can visit GITMO or Iran and interview a few government officials. The "word" also says many things about how people should be treated are you sure your not selectively reading and skipping a few chapters?

So some of you think that the bible and all its rules should be inforced by the government? This opens a whole new topic. there are countries and regional governments who tried that, they usually ended up being overthrown during revolutions and then being tried for crimes against humanity.

GITMO is not not a country, and I HAVE been there. And as for Iran, I could give a flip about those people. I will live by my "word", you will live by yours and as far as anything else I will agree to disagree with you...sorry I do not have anything "eloquent" to say this time...GOD bless you....bd

I take it you didn't figure out WHY these people were there? Couldn't have anything to do with the theological attrocities that they were commiting in their own FORMER country?

And as for Iran, I could give a flip about those people.

Sounds typical for your sort...

How much analyzing do you think it would take to "discover" that you (and others here aspousing the biblical enforcements) are not abiding quite so strictly to this "word" you are so insistant that other's live by?

Hint: it would take only a few seconds to see that you are not as lilly white as you think you are.

It's always a huge source of entertainment for me to hear what a lot of the people who want to enforce scripture say about what they chose to do in their lives that is not "moral" or "Christlike". This is usually when they invoke the always hilarious "But, I'm forgiven / get out of jail free" card.

It's normal for people to want others to be punished for not following rules, its usually however always supposed to happen to the "other guy". The transgressions that they themselves are guilty of just seem to be "acceptable". The problem here is that once you kick the chocks out from under the wheels on that wagon and allow the religious government to start down the hill, it runs over a lot of people who only THOUGHT that they were in the club.
