College Football Playoffs!
The BCS sucks! Period! And I am tired of it! Time for a playoff. The BCS drives me absolutely bonkers and it helps me cope with its stupidity to come up with something that would actually work. Check it my 6 rules of Bowls and Championships. Yeah, I was busy over lunch. :)
Rule #1: If you do not have a winning record, you should not get a bowl bid. That means, if you are 6-6, you are S.O.L. Buh Bye Iowa, New Mexico, Florida State, Oklahoma State, Alabama, Minnesota, & Miami. If you cannot play above .500 ball, what makes you think you should go to a bowl? As big a college football fan as I am, I won't watch a single one of those games because those teams absolutely do not deserve to be playing. Rule #2: Ditch a few of the bowls. There are WAY too many bowl games and it tarnishes the goal of getting to a bowl in the first place. 7-5 should even be a longshot to get to a bowl and a bowl with an actual sponsor in it's name is a joke. Come on...the Meineke Car Care bowl? Rule #3: During each team's season, eliminate one or two of those creampuff games and make it an 11 game season if your conference does NOT have a championship and a 10-game regular season if your conference DOES have a championship. That means, every team at the end of the season has an either above .500 or below .500 record with 11 games played and you are bowl eligible with a winning record only. When all the bowls are completed, all non-BCS Bowl teams will have played 12 games, 4 BCS teams willhave played 12 games, 2 BCS teams will have played 13 games, and 2 will have played 14 games to decide the champion. 14 games too much you say? After the bowls this year, 9 teams will have played 14 games, so that argument doesn't work. Rule #4: You are not allowed to host your own bowl, ever again. No more Hawaii in the Hawaii Bowl; No more Boise State in the Humanitarian Bowl. From now on, you travel just like every other team. Rule #5: The BCS stays AS IS, but is used to facilitate an 8-team playoff. Let the best team win the title outright on the field. Never again, will there be controversy. The best team will actually WIN the whole shootin' match by virtue of their play. Rule #6: That said, you will need 6 BCS bowls, not including the Championship: Sugar, Orange, Fiesta, and Rose Bowls are joined by the Cotton and the Peach Bowls. Rotate them around like before for first round and second round. An added bonus to having a playoff is that the two teams playing for the championship will be playing at their best and not rusty like they are today after 2 and a half months layoff. Now, the bowls as they SHOULD be THIS year, keeping in mind that another half dozen of these bowls should probably be ditched, as indicated: 12/19 - Ponsettia Bowl TCU (10-2) vs. Northern Illiinois (7-5) NO CHANGE 12/21 - Las Vegas Bowl BYU (10-2) vs. Oregon (7-5) NO CHANGE 12/22 - New Orleans Bowl Troy (7-5) vs. Rice (7-5) NO CHANGE 12/22 - International Bowl Western Michigan (8-4) vs. Cincinnati (7-5) DATE CHANGED FROM 01/07 to 12/22 - why should a lower tiered bowl play the same week as the big boys? 12/22 - GMAC Bowl Southern Miss (8-5) vs. Ohio (9-4) DATE CHANGED FROM 01/07 to 12/22 - why should a lower tiered bowl play the same week as the big boys? It works, it generates big-time money, it restores the legitimacy of bowl games, and it crowns a champion. |
We have the 2 best teams playing for the national championship, Florida and ohio State. Nevermind all this crap you've heard that michigan deserves to be there. Michigan only beat 4 teams with winning records, Florida beat 8 teams with winning records. Michigan is a RUNNER UP in thier conference, SECOND PLACE. Florida is the outright 1ST PLACE winner of thier tough conference,i.e., SEC CHAMPION. Now all the sudden , Michigan fans are Ohio st fans, they don't know what side of the fence to be on. Gaurenteed, Floridas defense will not give up 39 points, will not be blown out. It will be a close one,(7 points or less), Florida will win, on the 10th anniversary of thier last NCAA championship, and 100 years of gator football. Tebow will be a factor running one in and throwing for another one. Take it to Vegas, Gators win a tight one.

I'm not a Michigan fan, but I think they are much more deserving of the shot than Florida is. But that's opinion and that's what's wrong with the BCS. It's all about the human factor, when it should not be. Florida is in because they politicked to get in. Michigan is out because they decided not to lobby others to get in. I've seen more than a few editorials and news stories that indicated that had Michigan done what Florida did, they would probably have gotten enough to edge Florida out. Nothing wrong with politicking, but I thought the BCS was created to eliminate the human factor. :? The fact that it relies on it means it has failed.
And what about Boise State? Undefeated this year. What about Auburn a couple years ago? BCS is flawed and every year, that is more and more glaring. BCS is on it's way out...playoff is on it's way in. Problem is, it needs to happen sooner that later. As far as the title game, Florida is going to get blown out, thus cementing the fact that the human element once again screwed up. |
I'll be the first one on this topic Jan. 9 to say BWAHAHAHAHA, I told you so. GATORS WIN!!!
|
I'll be waiting and watching. Question though...when they get slaughtered, are you still going to be on here immediately after the game? ;)

NCAA needs to drop these sponsor name Bowls. I cannot keep up with who is where and what Bowl it is anymore.
Chic-Fil-A Bowl = Peach Bowl PapaJohns.com Bowl = ??? Meineke Car Care Bowl = Contenintal Tire Bowl = Meineke Bowl in Miami Texas Bowl = Houston/Reliant Bowl =??? Champs Sports Bowl = ??? Capital One Bowl = Citrus Bowl I know the NCAA added a few extra Bowl games for the lower teams but these sponsor gimmick Bowls have got to stop. Is it not enough that they have exclusive ad space on TV?? They get to play like 5 ads and all 5 are shown about 5 times each during the game, talk about overkill, if the first 2 times shown did not get me to buy it, then next 20 sure won't. |

You're going to find out very soon how tough Big Ten is. Take OSU to Vegas PS-I'm NOT a U of M fan if you've been reading any of my posts except when it came to OSU. Florida got in with the Coaches Whineing- Michigan coach didn't do that. INSIGHT.COM BOWL Perfect example of College bowl games getting totally diluted. They have Bowl games I've never heard of. |
I'll be on here immedietly after the game, to rub it in ,Gators win. I'll still be on here if they lose saying, "I guess the Big 10 brought their referees to call the game", or "You can't beat em when Ohio St. always has 13 men on the field, especially when 2 of them are wearing zebra stripes".

whineing and excuses already
|
What da hell, as far north as you are, you should be following the CFL, or maple leafs. Western Michigan put up more of a fight against the gators than OS will.
