If you research steer axle weights you'll actually find several answers varying by states, and by tires, up to manufacturer specs. Our manufacturer specs are 12000. As for 34000lbs that would be true for tandem drive axles but the majority of our fleet are single drive axle tractors. Basically to sum it up the axle weights for doubles are the same as any other truck up to the 80,000 lb limit. Or 120,000 lb limit for triples with the appropriate permit. Or 150,000lb limit in Michigan with proper number of axles and permits.
