Well, since my 17 year old son has been doing so well in college, has a part time job, and has never been in any trouble. I decided to let him get a better vehicle. the deal was he makes the payments and I pay for the insurance.
So he got a nice 2004 Blazer 4 wd. Picked it up Monday
Saturday night he was leaving his job and got a ticket for laying rubber!
He insisted that he didnt mean to, he is used to driving a 4 cylinder Escort, The cop didnt want to hear it. I told him to go to court and explain to the judge and maybe he could keep the points off his license, it's 3 point offense and in Georgia if you are under 18 4 points is a 6 month suspension.
Sooo, yesterday, he leaves for school and 10 minutes later he calls and says he got a ticket for 80 in a 55, 4 point offense!! He says he was trying to pass and the guy sped up. Guess the other guy got the last laugh..Now he has to try to convince a judge to let him keep his license. I enrolled him in defensive class and took his Blazer away, he will be driving mom's 4 cylinder if anything at all.
He has to face 2 different judges because one was in the city and one was in the county. Pretty dumb for someone who is in college studying criminal justice!!!
I got no problem not letting him drive at all. but that's more punishment for mom than him.
He better pray that he gets 2 very understanding judges.
He is waiting for his punishment and squirming and I think I like it that way. Let him worry, it will do him good.
