Do y'all prefer a laptop gps or a regular gps device,I like the know the pros and cons, heard a lot of people say the laptop gps are hard to read during the day then others swear by them.
I've had my laptop in the truck over 2 years now and it's still running perfect. I use a combination of CoPilot Truck, Microsoft Streets & Trips and Google Maps.

give it time....lol.. get a good stand if you want to keep your laptop.
I have 2 laptops in my truck. One is old as dirt just runs my mapping software and is sentimental to me. It rode in my Tank when went in the field and when I went to Iraq its over 5 years old. The new one I have well not super new is over a year old and fine. you just had carpy luck with laptops. If they went bad after a year or 2. Hell we went to the field with laptops for S-2 and S-4 in 113's and 577's not very good on shocks and they lasted more then 2 years.
for us laptop is the way to go
we have ms s&t 2007 less ease of routing (better maps) w/o gps $29 w/gps $115 2008 is out but i havn't check the price
we ues delorme 2008+ ( more user frendly display and ease of routing) next two turns, next stop and finish in time and distance in real time also the + has a good phone book for the usa built in. w/o gps $59 w/gps $119
company has installed copolit truck routing (hate it as the company has it setup) but it did let me see how it worked so it saved me from spending w/o gps $200 w/gps $299
nice thing about using a laptop is the screen size and we have every trip we have run for the last 3 1/2 years saved. i can pull up anyplace we have been before (fedex, conway, bax, ect.) just put in the start (ware we are) pick-up, fuel stops & finish. check the route (as per company routing) save and go in 2 min. and we have used the same laptop for the last 3 1/2 years and it's still working fine.
