Hello folks. Im here with a few questions. Im 20 years old with 6 months away from the age of 21. Im ready to drive professionally. Some of the DOT physical laws are concerning me. I have tourette's syndrome, that i was diagnosed at age 9. Its been controlled all these years. Not outrageous bursts and movements at all. Second. I have a PRE diabetic concern that can and will be turned around through excersise. and I take a med to keep my BP down, and a med thats for my adhd. None of my meds make me drowzy, so it doesnt effect my driving. Man im messed up huh?! (Lord help me). But anywho, i want to know your opinion. Would I be disqualified to drive with the tourettes? As far as the diabetes, its not even big YET. I can work out to lose it. But like i said, the tourettes doesnt effect my driving whatsoever. please steer me right so i can quit worrying. thanks :sad:

The tourette's is really going to be a tough one and will most likely come down to the discretion of the doctor who does your physical each time.

They could easily disqualify you under:

Quote:
b)(9) Has no mental, nervous, organic, or functional disease or psychiatric disorder likely to interfere with his/her ability to drive a commercial motor vehicle safely;
Your first stop really should be your doctor and talk to him/her about this and what you are wanting to do. Then if you get a green light there I suggest finding a doctor or clinic that does DOT physicals and go have one done and see what they say.
