Flying J Moving Corporate Office

I spoke with a representative of Flying J a couple of days ago and was informed that Flying J is moving their corporate offices to Knoxville, TN. According to this individual, they will be moving into Pilot corporate headquarters.

Expect major changes in the look of Flying J. I have already noticed that Flying J fuel prices are no longer cheaper than Pilot. In fact, they seem to be right at what Pilot is selling their fuel for, at least at the stores where I have noticed. A short while ago I was told that the Haw River Flying J will be making some major changes. The restaurant will be closing and a Denny's will open in it's place. The drivers lounge will be converted to a Wendy's. Bye, Bye drivers lounge. I expect to see these type of changes throughout the Flying J system. :(

I never liked the Pilot. There prices were generally higher than any convience store t/s in the area. It also seems that they go out of their way to remove driver conviences such as tv lounges, resturants, or drivers areas. Almost never have a shop where you can get a flat fixed. To me they are just an overrpriced Loves. Look how Pilot have ruined the Giant t/s on I-40, east of Gallup.

I will admit that I have parked overnite there sometimes, but only if a real t/s is unavailable. I'm now taking my re-fueling business mainly to the TAs', now that they have taken over the Petros'.

At least they'll have good coffee at the new headquarters. That's about the only positive thing I can think of.

Yup,

Also i talked to a cashier at flying j and was told that pretty soon flying j will take comchecks too. I really hope to be happening soon, since i'm always hunting for the lowest price possible.

I knew it I knew it and i have said it a few times since this merger was announced that Pilot f-ing hates drivers lounges for some reason and they will soon all be gone from the J's. I guess when i get back on the road most J's will be off of my list for killing time on breaks and re sets. Whay does Pilot hate for drievrs to have any kind of comfort at all? We need more wendy's and subways about as much as we need more logbook rules.

I hate the J is not on it's own. I liked the big parking area's & the restaurant's compared to others. the lounge, bathrooms & showers were better also. it is a shame the j could not find a way to make it. I felt like I was at home at the J.

I never cared too much for Pilot myself. They seem to not be well maintained, and their locations aren't the safest places.
I've stopped at the Pilot on I-40 exit 325, in Roland, Ok where I exit off to go into Fort Smith. That Pilot is not very old, but it's nearly run-down.

It seems to me that every truck stop that is half decent gets purchased by the one which isnt.

TA bought Petro and now this...

All the good ones are being bought-out, and the junky, nasty ones are doing well. :hellno:
