Schneider percentage program.....

are there any other owner operators on the schneider percentage pay, that frequent here??? i need to vent some issue!!!!

1. picked up load in NC, going to chicago....i got to the AA hwy in KY and was sent a message saying i have the wrong trl....i check paper work everything seems fine, turns out my load assigment had wrong BOL#, so SNI gave me wrong number to p/u load......have to turn around with load and take back to NC, 600miles NO PAY!!(300 both ways)

2. when a load cancels, it screws up your week!!!!!! wednesday night i select a load going from chicago to memhpis,TN,,, pick up was for friday, thursday evening i get hit with the message load cancelled!!!!! so just curious, friday morning i call shipper to find out what time load is gonna be ready(cuz i had load info on my qualcom) she told me a time and said she even suggested to SNI that truck arrive as early as possible, it was a preloaded trl and shipper open 24/7. that just made me irate!!! because its thursday and not much left on the board picking up friday, so i end up having to deadhead to milwaukee to pick up load going 552 for 1.18....... have a feeling they gave my load away!!!

3. They recently switched the pay period which now ends saturday night, and for guys like me who like to go home every weekend that just doesnt work for me.... Xmas coming up so i stay out 2weeks(left last monday, going home friday) and still didnt get to good weeks in,,,,

I enjoyed my time at schneider, but alot of things have changed, i talk to other o/o's from other companys and i cant believe some of the discounts among other perks they recieve..
Tires,fuel,...you dont get really any discount,,,,what is 2cents?? im sure they get discounts but dont pass it to us,,,,,, only thing convienent about the tire purchase program is ur able to get tires w/out cash. if you pay cash for a tire its the SAME prices as if you were joe scmhoe off the street.

yeah of course...like i said they gave me wrong p/u number and bills say to illinois......

how could i have prevented that? there isnt a way

TomB985 12-18-2008 05:32 AM

That's why I asked ;).

I've heard lots of stories of drivers grabbing the wrong trailer, or accepting a load going to a different destination than they are dispatched to, because they simply didn't pay attention to what they were signing, or the number of the trailer they were picking up.

So, if that load was going to the same place...why wouldn't they let you run with it?

marcel27208 12-18-2008 05:38 AM

1 i pckd up was going to GA.......it seems there was a shipper and sni error......

thay you had to pay for.......nice

solo379 12-18-2008 06:41 AM

If the same thing would happened in my company, and that would be a shipper mistake, I'd get paid full rate regardless. If that would be a mistake on a dispatch part, they would at least pay for my fuel, and make it up to me, any way they can.

lowrange 12-18-2008 07:30 AM

That's really crummy if they don't cover that.

On a different note, I hear Schneider has stopped training. Well boys, it's getting interesting. We'll see who the last drivers standin...er...sitting are. That doesn't count Solo sitting there with his cognac painting landscapes with snowflakes. :)

How's things going on your end?

I deliver tomorrow in Detroit and there isn't anything in Michigan until Jan 4th :(

Needless to say I really need it to pickup after the first of the year.....but not expecting it to.

Ok, just as well, boubon! Need a little Coke with mine, though. So, are you really painting landscapes? Maybe you just bug the wife all day? I bet your toenails were never so clean and well trimmed. I've got a week or two (or more) coming up myself. :)

You know Mike, there are only about 50 of us in the mileage program. So far, it seems like they've been able to scrape off all the loads we need. I've gotten paid for sitting for three days a could of times (I loovvveeee surfing the internet on layover), but they've kept me moving for the most part. The percentage guys, they can tell you their story themselves...

We'll see about next year, huh? Just today, Chrysler shutting down for a month...I've been expecting a whole lot of fall out to actually begin in 2009 (we found out after a year that we were in a recession all of 2008!?- who buried those numbers!?!) Doesn't sound like QC has anything for me until next year, either. We've just got to get ready. Make sure you've got your plan B, C and D, I guess.

Heavy Duty 12-18-2008 02:57 PM

You don't think the are loading the ORANGE trucks ahead of the lease operators, do you?

i dont know about the lease operators, im an OWNER operator,,,,,,(unless your talking about drivers leased to SNI) :-)

i dont know what there deal is?

Heavy Duty 12-20-2008 12:46 AM

Think of Donnie Schneider as a big owner operator.Whose trucks is he going to load first?

You are a lease operator, you are leased to Schneider. Getting home every weekend can be hard to do no matter where you work, you end up turning down good work to be able to go the direction you need. These are tough times, you have to do whatever it takes to make it.

marcel27208 12-20-2008 04:42 AM

ok i see what u are saying....when u said lease i thought u were talking about the ones who lease trucks from schneider...... thats what i would call a lease operator...

Hawkjr 12-21-2008 11:48 AM

there was a Schneider O/O at our Wal-Mart DC Terminal the other day in the Drivers Lounge.. and he clearly said he is not happy with their way of business.. His Quote "I've been here two weeks, and i put in my two weeks notice in last week"

Thats the Pumpkin for you!!!

GMAN 12-21-2008 01:01 PM

An owner operator isn't required to give a notice, but it might help to get their attention. I am surprised that any owner operator would leave a carrier after only 2 weeks.

Exactly my thoughts! Not enough time to figure out the system....

boneebone 12-21-2008 03:26 PM

You should get paid for the miles you ran from and back to NC, it wasn't your fault.

Hawkjr 12-21-2008 03:31 PM

trust me... i can't make up stuff like that.. but i will say this much.. I see ALOT of Schneider System Guys Including O/O and Leased ..Parked for long periods of time for the past month.. i don't do 10 hr breaks at Truck stops alot but for example, about a month ago i stopped at the Triple T on the other side of the Bay Bridge off of 301... I got there at 7:15 A.M. and there was a O/O and a System Guy there, i left at 8:00 P.M. because my load wasn't ready until and they was still sitting there, same spot and all.... Then at the T/A last week the same Schneider truck was parked in the same spot with the same guy sitting and watch TV from 5:00 A.M to 10:00 P.M. that day!!! Hey they might of all been waiting on something or hell maybe had just got there before me.. not sure but they are sure sitting alot!!!

But he said he called and told them get the damn Qualcomm out of his truck... i dont know if thats an L/O or O/O... Maybe you can answer that GMAN...

GMAN 12-21-2008 03:47 PM

A lease operator doesn't own the truck so he doesn't have much say as to what goes in or out of the truck. All he does is pay for his companies truck. The owner operator owns the truck and can put anything into his truck or have something taken out. My guess is that the guy was an owner operator.

marcel27208 01-25-2009 06:09 AM

been running into more loads that dont pay what they say they do on the computer when i book them......ive asked around to other o/o's at SNI and up until recently they havent had a problem......they had same problem i do now....loads that book at one price and SNI pays less on payday......i call in and ask and all they say is its the fuel surcharge?????? Thankfully ive been approved to go to mercer BUT i know flat bed is very slow right now and i need to wait until it picks up........ i feel im owed over $1200 from SNI over the past few months for loads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it was me I would be contacting OOIDA, if you accept a load with a price attached to it, that is what it should pay.

How are the rates holding up?

well the rates arent that great to begin with on ALOT of loads.

out of chicago(which is where i gauge what alot of loads should pay, just personally) rates to the NE are about 1.40-1.60

to the SE 1.15 to 1.30

to tx/la 1.30. to 1.35 all of this is with fuel surcharge.

What happens is i book load IE says it pays 930$ but i look at my statement and im paid 890$ i know thats only $40 to some but if it happens over and over, then it adds up.

i feel if it pays 900$ then on my statement it should say 900$ not 899!!!!

agreed. wow those rates are not good.

marcel27208 01-25-2009 08:38 AM

rates have plummeted dramatically!!!!!!!! i dont know whats going on, but rates started to go down around october. You are LUCKY to get 1.00 per mile coming out of the southeast going anywhere.!!!!!!

It's called desperation, guys are taking it just to be moving. sooner or later it will catch up with them.

marcel27208 01-25-2009 09:41 AM

yeah i realize that from talking to some of the owner operators at SNI,,, i think part of problem is these guys lease these trucks from SNI and feel they HAVE to take loads just to keep moving to pay that 600$ a week truck payment!!!! But it drags o/o's like me down who understand the freight game!!:) If things werent so slow id take my truck down to charlotte and have them take their stickers/qualcomm off my truck! Hoping Flats pick up soon!!!

TruckerChris 01-26-2009 11:34 AM

Sounds like you're getting screwed around pretty good... I'm on the mileage pay since I live in CA and I couldn't be happier. I have the best group of "dispatchers" or ICA's or whatver the hell you want to call them working for me. I run hard, never sit, haven't had a power load/unload in a long time. I get the good runs from CA to Jersey and then back to TX and then back to CA all the time. I may make less since I'm on mileage pay, but I do just fine. It does seem that freight has slowed down, but I'm still making the same money I was and getting the same miles I was last year.

thats the problem im having to run hard........i make more than i would be on mileage but with low rates im having to drive more!:D

Hawkjr 01-28-2009 10:08 AM

Marcel where do you live?

marcel27208 01-28-2009 03:46 PM

oustide of charlotte NC

Hawkjr 01-29-2009 03:38 AM

Damn i didn't see the Location lol.. but check with the Henderson, NC Wal Mart Distribution.. If your truck is paid of,f so what i heard you can make a decent penny...

Henderson only do Refeer Loads so the conditions may be better than Gordonsville.. But give them a try..

If you got short hood truck you would do fine getting in and out of stores.. but hey just a suggestion!!

A single O/O cannot get on with Walmart. Even if you get in they pay like .95cpm.

Thankfully I've been approved to go to mercer BUT i know flat bed is very slow right now and i need to wait until it picks up.
You will be waiting a LONG time.

My buddy is/was with Mercer, when he called on Monday 1-26-09 he was told he was #45 on the list, slow isn't the word over there, not only that the rates are low, I have seen lower rates on flats than vans on the Internet Truckstop load board.

Now is NOT the time to be job hopping, rates and freight are down everywhere, no sense being on the bottom of the list at the "new" place.
