I just went through Louisiana the last 50 miles before Texas and if anyone wants to test their ability to secure a flatbed load, well, this is the road. Makes NY look like child's play. If any truck hits a car and kills someone the state should be sued for negligent homicide for the state of their roads!!! Did my 300 miles and time for a little nap. Well, not little, I'm talking full blown coma for 2 hours at least!!! In in a T/A outside Houston so rush hour should be over when I hit the road again. I'm thinking eggs over medium, pork chops, toast and home fries when I wake up!!! Sunshine, warm, yup Ah-Choo, it doesn't get any better than this. YOU NEED TO COME HOME!!!!!!!!! |

The J across the street from TA has better food. The TA south of Houston at Ganado (on US59) has good food. But...it's one of the "Rip Griffins"..so far TA hasn't killed it.

Moved three tarped FB loads two weeks ago for ~$2.50 X 490 miles. 45,000lbs. It's been a shippers market |
This load I have right now paid $1.80 for 2,200 miles and was about 30 miles from my home. When they originally called it was paying $1.50 but I said I wanted $1.80. After he called back the 3rd time he gave me what I wanted.
I'm just about 130 miles from my delivery point but saw a T/A out in the middle of nowhere yesterday and it's real nice, clean so I stopped here for the night. Did my laundry, fueled up, shower and a not bad meal. The customer is going to unload me Saturday at 7am so that worked out good then off to a truck stop for the weekend. I tell ya, these 300 and 400 miles days are just killing me. I'm one hard driving trucker man. :D Met a woman in the laundry room and she drives a flatbed. We got to talking and she was all bent out of shape. She works for Passmore and they just sent her a Qualcomm message to pick up a load even though she told them she was way out of hours. She told them no and they told her well, you can sit for the weekend and maybe next week a load will come up. She told me they consistently want her to run illegal and when she doesn't they punish her. She said she averages about 400 miles per week!!!! This is exactly the scenerio I think the government should punish the carrier with at least a $10,000 fine. She has proof. I'm sure this happens all the time. I just can't imagine working for someone else. I filled up yesterday and got 6mpg for doing 60mph for the last 2 days. Maybe I'll try 55 for 1 day and see what happens but I don't think I could take going that slow. I would end up down shifting on every single hill. 60 seems to be the slowest I can go in 10th gear. |
If she can prove it she needs to call the FMCSA they take crap like that very serious and will go after them.

You did right with the 1000$ offer. It ain't worth all the wear n tear and getting it loaded n tied down for less than that .. It takes just as much work to get it loaded n unloaded when you haul it 250 miles or 2500 miles ???? Do you run a flat or a double drop ??? |
