I worked on many top secret projects in the past. Only problem is I can't remember SH** about any of it!!!

I'm at Los Alamos labs right now. They took away my cell phone but not my camera or laptop???? Not sure if it's the Army, Marines or what that provide the security here. I have an armed guard who is not allowed to take his eyes off me. They are having problems with the fork lift. I'm laying down in my bunk with the guard in front of my truck and he can see my legs from the knees down so that's OK!!!

I had to go through 5 checkpoints before I got to this place. Just like the good old days.

So you can't make a phone call but you can connect in and send photo's to any third world country via the web while sitting there???? Ahhh nothing like government/military workers....doing exactly what you're told and not putting a single extra brain cell into the effort.

Steve I remember lots of loads like that. Marines with M-16's sitting in my cab saftey off and it pointed AT ME. Loads were I had LAV's Chain Guns pointed at my truck and I know they had guys at the trigger wanting to pull it. But the worst was having someone in the cab with me the entire run going you stop someplace besides were I tell you unless it is an emergancy be prepared to meet GOD.

So you are at the Lab Steve? A good friend of mine is a nuclear scientist there, Terry Adams. Every once in a while the govt. sends him out here to Lawrence Livermore Lab to work on projects.

Yup, I was right outside one of the labs. I did a 5 week consulting job there back in the early 80's when I worked for Digital. I wrote a device driver for a Biomation unit that enabled them to sample A/D and D/A data at a rate of up to 1 million samples per second for just 1 second. It was used to capture the data from a cyclotron accelerator.

So here I am in the lab taking a break and looking through the bullet proof glass at the cyclotron. Some of the scientists asked if I had ever seen one and I said no. They asked if I wanted a demonstration and I said "HELL YES".

They told me where to look, powered it up then hit the button and a big snap sound. They asked, did you see it? And I'm like, NO NO, do it again. After about the 10th time I turn around and they are all laughing at me.

You can't see an atom fly past faster than the speed of light!!!!

I got unloaded finally. This huge fork lift had lots of water in the fuel and it looked like it jelled up also. They had to go to town and get a new fuel filter, fuel additive and they parked the fork lift inside for a few hours and everything was fine after that.

The road out of this place was a trip. They make the trucks take the back way out which is OUT THERE!!! Pretty cool stuff through the snow, mountains, curves and spectacular scenery. You can look about 20 feet off the road and see all the electronic listening devices, infra red heat detection and pressure sensitive areas for like 10 miles. There are warning signs every 10 feet or so to stay the heck out!!!

Well, so much for my James Bond kind of day. Hauling 2x4's just won't be as exciting.


I'm outside Albuquerque at the Hollywood Casino and truck stop. One of my favorite places. The buffet at the casino is the cats meow for sure. Meatloaf, baked salmon, chicken, some green s h i t and a bunch of other stuff. Wicked good and only $7.50. Gave a slot machine $20 bucks and came back to the truck.
