Cleaning a trailer

I've heard people say to get a leave blower. I went to Lowes and Walmart today. Walmart had a cheap one that ran off gas and Lowes at a cordless one. What are you guys using?

I just hauled onions from Dallas to Naples, fl and from 5 feet away from the trailer you can smell the onions. I'm home today but I'm hoping by tomorrow it will be gone.

If you plan on using it in the back of a trailer, you will want one that operates off of gas. You may not have access to power. Besides, you will need to have an extension cord which will take up more room in the truck. Of course, you could always just use a push broom.

maybe I will just try the broom GMAN

Have you sprinkled coffee grounds around the trailer to get the odor out? If its really bad, use bleach and coffee grounds.

If it is a reefer, most food Mfgr. won't load a trailer that has evidence of coffee grounds and surely not bleach.

Then he better do a good job cleaning out the grounds, they arent going to load it smelling like onions....are they? What is your suggestion?

a few boxes of baking soda and a fan to circulate the air

$30 for a washout. When you're pulling a reefer it's a cost of business. Make sure your rate reflects it on any load where it will be necessary, i.e., fish, chicken, onions, etc. I figure I'll need a washout after approximately 25% of my refrigerated loads. If I don't, great, but I charged accordingly.

I use a broom 8)

You ever see that movie Fast Times At Ridgemont High? You remember the part where I think Demone had a fight with his friend in the locker room and then mumbled to himself "I don't know what happened I woke up in such a good mood"?

Well that was today for me. Home yesterday and I'm married to a Spanish girl who treats me like a king. Her mother stays with us too and also treats me like a king. Had a nice night, ate good etc. I wake up this morning in a great mood and I was going to get my iced coffee and go see my 91 year old grandmother and take her a few things. First went to check on the truck and find no truck. For a brief second I thought of Sonny with telling me to put my name on the side of that trailer, but I knew it wasn't stolen. I always have parked there at Lowes even when I was with the company. There are always trucks there too.

Of course there are signs not to, but what the hell, this city is only one of two in the country that won't let McDonalds have their golden arches in the air. I don't even think you are allowed to have a pickup in your driveway.

So I find my self in the hood of Fort Lauderdale with $900 in my pocket. The place was like a fortress as of course all type of riff raff down there. Another guy with Sunco got hit up for over a grand and only left it for two hours where he had it.

So yes this is embarrassing to be writing this and I feel stupid but what the hell. I'm genuine like I always say. I was sick about it at first but what are you gonna do? This week I got my property taxes and it was a grand lower than last year. Also I just found out that I don't have to pay $180 a month anymore for health insurance as my wifes company will cover me too. So I'm up for the week I guess.

Oh and that wasn't the only thing. So I use the coffee grinds. I go to sweep it out when I got the truck back. Pain in the ass that is. I got it all the way to the end but it was clumping up at the door so I figure I'll poor some water on it and it will go out the drain. Well the drain kept getting clogged and I made basically coffee in the trailer.

After a half hour of sweeping I said to myself this is the last time I'm doing this and I went and bought leave blower.

So this rookie had one hell of a day. One good thing is I found out a place where I can park it for free. This is what I was told and when I get back I will go and verify. It is property owned by the the State so it might be true. I heard you just have to go get a permit which they give for free.

But yes the coffee grinds did work so thanks for that tip.

Trying to piece together this story...

Parked truck..
Truck gets ticketed and towed...
$900 to get truck back...did I get it right?

Ouch!!
