I can attest to this. Try going to a vender twenty minutes later than your schedueled. They not only will take you when they can "fit" you in, but you can not charge delay time because you were late. I make $27.85 and hour to sit and wait. How much do you suppose the company charges? My only point is there is no need in the constant hazmat inspections. However, they see the damn placards and are hipnotized by them. I have nothing to hide. I told the boss man he should call Tennessee Safety and request an inhouse inspection. All the trucks and trailers will be at the yard ready for inspection. How much easier can we make it for them. I will enjoy my time off.

ok, so how is not running at all going to help you make a paycheck? if you can afford it, I guess it make sense to just stay home.

Wash your truck and keep the dash clean and the inside of the truck clean and make sure your tires and brakes are good and check for oil leaks and ect....you will be fine.

If you dont want to be out there then maybe you should stay home and fix your truck.

We are going to put tires on our trailer today and the truck has been washed and checked out and is ready for inspection.

They did not get me at the Yapank Scale but at the new inspection site at exit 48 east bound. I never see it open to often. I was lucky because I am usually over my hours when I pass there. I live about 20 mins east of there and usually I have plenty of hours left until I hit the BQE. On friday for example it took me 4.5 hours just to go the 15 or so miles from the Verazano bridge to 495. There is no way I am going to sleep in my truck 15 miles from home. I heard from another driver they were pulling everyone in the Yapank scale earlier in the week though. I will be out working this week too 8)

ok, so how is not running at all going to help you make a paycheck? if you can afford it, I guess it make sense to just stay home.
Well since it will be happening on the weekend, I usually only work 1 load early Saturday morning and it usually doesn't pay the best just enough to give the paycheck a little boost. I also do my one load very early in the morning so I am done by 5-7am and still have the rest of my day. I would hate to get put OOS by DOT for something that may happen to the truck after I do my pre-trip and have my Saturday ruined. But that's just my .02, staying home and loosing 80 bucks from my paycheck and gaining a whole friday night and saturday is more worth it to me.

we had driver get put out of service for 10 hours for a log book violation, he was 40 miles from home, NOW THAT SUCKS!!

The idea of these inspections is to inspect every truck in the U.S. during this time.
