I'm new :)

Hey everyone... Im maggie, 21 from Ohio I currently just started working for Doug Davidson Trucking out of Ohio and I dont know very much about this business so I thought joining a forum would be a great way to get to meet some new people and maybe learn a thing or two. My boss, Doug has been driving truck since he was 13 (yea sooooo illegal) and knows all the ins and outs.... as for me, I have no clue - I just got thrown in and now Im the office manager, lol. Anyways, I'm up for meeting new people and would like any insights anyone has to offer :D

Welcome to CAD. Any chance your next post will be in a less dramatic fashion? One in a suitable colour for my old eyes so that I may, perhaps, read it

GMAN 04-06-2007 01:19 AM

Welcome to the forum, Maggieb. You will find a pretty diverse group of people on this forum. I have been around for a while, as have some of the others. It can be a good resourse for those starting out. Feel free to ask anything you want. What part of Ohio are you from?

maggieb 04-06-2007 01:32 AM

North Eastern... Youngstown area.

GMAN 04-06-2007 01:40 AM

I lived in Mansfield for a couple of years. I could never get used to the overcast days and sweater weather most of the year. Although I was on the road much of the time, it nearly always seemed to be overcast when I was in town. I suppose when you grow up in the South, you prefer sunny days and warmer climate.

maggieb 04-06-2007 01:45 AM

yea... the summers aren't too bad... last year wasnt atleast... other than that it just sucks. I would really like to move south eventually. :)

GMAN 04-06-2007 02:30 AM

The South is a good place to live and base if you are in trucking. There are a lot of trucking companies based down here. Once you get a couple of years experience behind you and a little older, you should not have any problem finding a job anywhere you want to go. Most over the road trucking companies require drivers to be 23 or 25 years old. You are fortunate to have found a good driving job with a carrier at 21.

bulldog2036 04-06-2007 02:36 AM

She's the office manager....not driving.

GMAN 04-06-2007 02:44 AM

I just reread her original post. For some reason I thought she was also driving.

We all make mistakes. Lest this type of mistake is safer than those on the road......

bulldog2036 I just saw your signature, Former Marine?? I thought and always heard, Once a Marine, Always a Marine?

maggieb 04-06-2007 03:22 AM

they way things have been going lately Doug prob wishes I was a driver... we've been busy as hell & we let our one driver go bc he was chasing whores and missing his loading/unloading appts... and a few of them are getting old and sick. It will all be fine because we're going to get Teal 95 KW to come drive for us... right?!!!

bulldog2036 04-06-2007 04:23 AM

Coastie...former Marine only because I no longer wear the uniform but as you said "once a Marine, always a Marine"...semper fi. Yes Maggies, you are cute and I say that with respect.

RostyC 04-06-2007 04:27 AM

maggieb 04-06-2007 04:39 AM

ohhhhh sheesh.... Im ready for warm weather in OHIO... its snowing, AGAIN. :?

RostyC 04-06-2007 05:22 AM

I like the cooler weather myself, not extreme cold but cool....50's, 60's. I don't like hot weather, probably because I have to work in it all day.

maggieb 04-06-2007 05:23 AM

I would LOVE to work in the hot weather :) I love the sun and warmth, and ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I hate being cold... its the worst feeling in the world

RostyC 04-06-2007 05:37 AM

You got me thinking maggieb, I do like hot weather when............I got a cooler full of ice and I mean ICE cold beer, the pool is at the right temperature, I got some kinda meat smells coming from the grill, and some good friends around with some good music playing.

Man I can't wait summer.

maggieb 04-06-2007 05:57 AM

woooooo hooooo!!!! Summer is only like 70 some days till the first day of summer!!!! Uh-oh, that means that maybe some of us should be thinking about swim-suit season! Yikes, I know I should :? I can't wait.
