Dump business ???
 

To hire on to hall asphalt Most of the companies here want me to sign their company on my insurance as a co insured, is this common everywhere in this business? This makes me pay for their insurance& cuts my coverage in half.When I was in the plumbing business & somone required this they could not make you do it. would the dump truck owners let me know if this is common where they work?

Almost daily, I keep seeing these threads asking for info about dump trucking.

I am going to cut & paste my "stock reply" and use it where applicable.

That is not common around my parts, not that I know of. Every customer wants a copy of my accord notice but thats it.

I just got out of the dump truck business after 19 years, and went to work for a union excavating co.
Perhaps that would give you a clue.

howerver I have Been In the dump business for 2 yrs.now, and have done very well. It started as a side line to my plumbing business, but after
haveing a stroke last year that left me unable to do plumbing anymore
MY dump truck is the only piece of equipment that I can use since I have only10% use of my left arm.Its all Paid for I & don't want to go on disability if I can still work at something.I have to pay My bills,I don't think any union company will hire Me in MY shape. i was looking into this asphalt thing cause its easier on the truck than hauling dirt for buiders.
Did anyone ever approach with the co insured deal ?

Ah.... Sacramento, so that's where all of our Arizona transfers keep going
??? Transfers are becoming extinct, being replaced with super 16's, 18's.
I'm in the process of selling my super 10, to get a used transfer, and go
back to Fresno,Ca.... where I have connections, with landscape hauling.
Buying a tri-axle, was the biggest mistake..........

Really? is it that bad now????
In Az, it's like that with super 16's, & 18's, EVERYBODY has one!!!! It's crazy, every where you go, there's like 10 of those trucks, if you can
fit 4 drop axles under the truck, your'e good to go! The 16's can carry
21-22 tons, & the 16's can carry up to 25.5 tons! ON A STRAIGHT TRUCK!
NO TRAILER!!!!!!
The only thing good, is that Az doesn't have that dumb-ass bit program,
that basically steals money, for CHP..... :wink:

In PA we can gross 73,280 on a tri axle my old man can haul around 23 tons. In New Jersey you can haul 80,000lbs on a tri axle the way you guys do things out west is kinda crazy. just my 2 cents. :wink:
