International Trucks, good or bad

Why doesn't international trucks get any respect?
I was looking at a nice 2002 autoshift 9400i, when it occurred to me how little you hear about International. what do you guys think of international?[/list]

I drive one every day (single axle day cab). Its ugly as hell and rides like a farm tractor but it always starts and gets me down the road. Personally I think most of it has to do with peoples ego's. Internationals arent as perty as a 379 or a W900 so nobody wants one. Most trucks have the same drivetrain anyway so if one's ego isnt an option, Internationals (and the ever un-popular Freightliner) can be bought a lot cheaper than a chromed-out long-nose super truck and will make you just as much money.

The first truck I drove was an International. I have owned one for several years. They are a good work horse. Although I also own a KW, I prefer the International. You can always spend more for a truck, but you won't find one that is more dependable.

Chrome may look nice but it does not pay more I actually pefer the International myself best truck when it comes to room in the cab except for the Volvo easy to work on and rugged.

I agree most of its ego. Maybe they should slap some shiny stuff on there and a train horn. Then charge a $140,000 for them and they would have some prestige!

Taking it to my mechanic tomorrow, if he gives it a clean bill of health....I just may trade in my 1993 pete and become the proud owner  of a 2002 9400i. really wanted a 2001 or older, (thought this one was a 2001.)

I had really bad luck with an International recently. Mainly fit and finish kinda issues, lots of squeaks and rattles and really alot of road noise in the cab. It rode like heck also and the motor...well don't get me started on how much that thing cost me even under warranty with the down time I had to suffer thru. Now I know the motor is not international but everything else was and I hated it. But I could have just gotten a lemon too.

Hey maryland........ what year and model was that international?

I am sorry to hear that you had a problem with your International. It can really stink when you have to spend money on an engine that should be under warranty. Just because something is under warranty doesn't necessarily mean that a breakdown will be covered.
