Just about an hour away from my drop off for tomorrow. Got off Rt 64 onto Rt 35. What a nice ride. It's a secondary road through farm country and lots to see. It runs along the Ohio river and it was way cool seeing the big tug boats pushing barges up the river and all the small coal mining towns and tons of real old working farms.
The speed limit is 55 the whole way. I did about 100 miles on this road and could do this for weeks it's so nice. I led a pack of like 15 trucks and thought I was holding up the line doing 58 and asked if I should pull over and they all said no. I was listening to these 2 guys talk about this and that and it was like listening to a book on tape. Then he got a phone call and said he would be back. 10 minutes later I said, "what the heck, how long is he going to be on the phone, I'm into these stories". Everyone started laughing. Went through a blizzard today on 64 through West Virginia. That was wild. Stopped for a 2 hour nap. Big ass hills around those parts. 7% grades that go on for 5 miles. I don't want to take my tarp off tomorrow cause it came out so nice this time!! So much for riding with the window down and my arm out the side. It's cold. I think Tootie was here and caused that??? I'm at the A&A truckstop I think the name of it is. It's on 35 and in the middle of nowhere right off the highway. It's a private one with a real big parking lot and a restaurant. I just had chicken stir fry, garlic toast and coleslaw and it was awesome. I'm about to go into a coma. I'm sitting here on my bed typing this and look up and here's this guy dressed like a cowboy from the 1800's walking by. I wait a little then look out to see what truck this yahoo is driving and he's gone and no trucks in the direction he was walking. 10 minutes later I look up and here's this guy on a horse with like 20 cows going through the meadow. Very cool. Not sure where I'll go tomorrow. If I can get a half way decent paying load back home I'll go home for 1 day then back out again. If I do go home I'm going to try and head to PA or OH and get something out. Those places seem like the real hot spots. |

I had to take my truck off the boards as available. I just got out of Lowes after waiting there since 5am. There was trucks as far as the eye could see waiting for there turn and they were slow unloading. Once I was called into the gate it took me a while to untarp and the wind was blowing like crazy. My tarp was all over the place and I was ready to just let it blow away trying to fold it up. Once I got the tarp folded and put away it was 3 more hours before they came to unload me. This wasn't a retail store but a major Lowes warehouse. There was a really fat guy across from me with a flatbed. I have no idea how someone like that can have a flatbed. His tarp was stuck on the top and there was no way he could climb on anything!!! He ended up throwing a strap over the whole load then attaching it to the end of the tarp then pulling it up and over from the other side. It's a little past 2pm and I haven't eaten since yesterday, I'm covered in salt, dirt, sore, wind burned, tired and it's cold out. I'm going to eat, shower, do an invoice then post my truck for tomorrow. I really feel for you guys that are forced dispatch. |
But, no more monkey butt, right?

I just posted my truck and in 5 minutes got a load to Texas for $1.75. No tarp and simple. I need a long ride to loosen back up.
