HeySteve,

If you come to CA in the next 2 weeks I have a LTL load that pays $2.00 per mile cash. It's only 75 miles, but the destination is only a few miles from the beach and they talk faster than South Dakota.

Man, this blows. I have to get home once again to take care of some things. This is the last time. I'm getting calls sitting here out in the middle of bum F%&^ nowhere to go places and I can't, I have to go back East. I live in a condo and my basement has the main sprinkler system control for the whole complex (small community). The fire department needs to get in to do there annual check which I forgot about. They did notify me about it, I just had a brain fart I guess. Save your breath, nobody else can get into my place. Keyless entry that only I can activate.

I did end up getting a post office box so I don't have to have someone pick up my mail anymore.

I can't wait for fricken spring to come. I just can't imagine how nice it will be to ride with the window down and to walk around some of these rest stops instead of in the snow, muck and mud. I guess I really did start this endeavor at the right time. Get the worst of it over then have something great to look forward too.

I'm over the hump as far as money is concerned. Checks are rolling in on a regular basis and I have enough cash on hand almost to rebuild my engine if need be. Truck is running great and no problems.

I must say this is much easier than I thought it was going to be with regards to getting work. Granted I'm not making $2.50 a mile but I am making more than enough to pay the bills. I'm sure I could do much better just running between OH and PA but not ready for that. Being out here in nomans land is the cats meow to me.

  Pretty good. Actually, it was the other way around, for me. I used to pull a hopper bottom on wheat harvest. Did it for 6 years. Anyway, the folks up in that part of the country up there had the hardest time understanding all of us "Texans." :P It is different, though, that is for sure.

I hope that it all works out Steve, the house, and stuff. Keep it up buddy.

Ya thanks, it will work out, just a pain right now because I want to stay out a lot longer. It's going to take a while until I get stuff worked out.

I'm stuck in North Platte NE at the Flying J. I was here once before and it's the Sh%^ hole of America. I was at a premo rest area about 75 miles ago and I should have stayed there but figured it was early and I'll stop at the next one. Well, once I got into NE those nice places do not exist in this state. What a drag. I put my curtain up right away to block the world from my view.

I'll get rid of my load tomorrow morning then head for Des Moines IA and wait there to see if I get a load. I already posted my truck as available and the calls usually come in around noon or so. If nothing happenes tomorrow I may start dead heading home.

I got the nose of my Century grazed at that Flying J while trying to back inot a spot. Then the driver took off and got caught by the Highway Patrol out on I-80. heh... :P

Steve you're absolutely right about summer being much easier on the driver. It's a psychological thing. Winter can take a terrible toll.

So for this winter I've been exceptionally lucky regarding weather. One little snow storm, and a bit of freezing rain. That's it. When I was doing my overnight run, I'd have that once a week!

One thing though, in summer it sure is a bitch to wash your truck! Those bugs stick on like crazy!
