What model of 10 speed do you have? Theres about 5 different final gear drive ratios for eaton 10 speeds.

If you have that, road speed at a certain rpm, and tire height, we can easily figure out your gear.

BTW, cummins powerspec has ALL transmission models with their final drive ratio, as well as all tire heights.

many fleets are going to direct drive (1:1 final gear) transmissions.
no overdrive????????????

Correct, supposedly reduces losses inside the transmission. Of course now everything has to be specced a little different, including the rear gear and driveshaft.

I think all meritor transmissions are 1:1. It's the latest trend.

Right now I know pretty much squat about gear ratios and whatnot. If I were to buy a new truck I would get at least a 500hp then take it out for a spin. If I liked the sound at 65-70 that would be my deciding factor.

Once again I'm in bum F%^& nowhere over the border into Wyoming. Stopped at a Conoco for the night and there's a little dinner here. Kind of a dump. Took a chance and had a real tasty steak and the salad bar was killer. They had cucumbers in vinegar with onions, scallions, cherry peppers and great coleslaw. I'm in heaven. There were signs in there that said not to touch the waitresses.

I have about 300 miles to go and gained 2 hours because of the time zone so I should be there real early. The load is going to the Arapahoe Tribe so I may get that haircut after all. I've been checking for a few days and nothing coming out of there so I'll be dead heading to Casper to get my next load about 100 miles away.

This trip cost me $1,100 in fuel and paid $3,100 for 4 days work. I know some people are interested in those figures.

I leave the cruise on and let it chug up the hill. I think I'm doing much better on the fuel economy.

Just watch your pyrometer (Exhuast temp gauge) and make sure it's not running to hot.
Extended periods of high pyro temps can damage turbo and sometimes cause premature headgasket failure. If you see it getting over 1000 deg.
drop it down a gear to increase rpms and cool down exhuast temp.

Why not? They're the only ones that matter. How many total miles on this trip.....loaded miles off the hub and dead to P/U?

It was 2,000 miles and 40 dead head.

I'll end up dead heading 100 miles to Casper when I drop off as there are no loads at all from Arapahoe WY.
