What type of engine oil?

Just curious as to what type of engine oil you use and if there is a reason why you use the brand you do.

Also, have you had any bad experiences with any name brand oil and if so what was it.

I have a 1985 FTL with a 350 BCC engine, and prior to getting the oil changed at the dealership I was using Delo. At the FTL dealership they put in Delvac.

Any oil that has the same ratiungs as Rotella is just as good. I think the ratings are cl or ch I can't remember. I ran Sunoco super c until they stopped selling it around here now I run Esso. I have run Rotella when I've had to but my truck uses oil when I do and doesn't when I use Esso. Go figure. Any truck shop can tell what the proper rating to use is.

I had bad luck with the Rotella, nothing went wrong, just would use a lot, like a gallon every 2000 miles, and this was when the truck was brand new.

I changed over to Delo and now use a gallon every 9000 miles.

Don't know why my 3406E Cat doesn't like the Rottella but it don't.

Either Rotella, Delo, or Delvac all are good oils.

That's weird, when me and my old man switched to rotella from mobil, our oil consumption and oil leakage(rear main seal) both went down.

That's odd about your Cat engine doing that.
Rotella always seemed to not break down but that's all I've ever used.

Oil doesn't break down. Additives do.

I use Delo in my truck, as that is what the engine manufacturer recommends.

Which is part of the Oil product you buy and this subject was about what Oil Product you buy.
