about to purchase reefer

I won't to get a few opinions...about to purchase a reefer trailer and want to know the best size to go with: 53ft or 48? Many drivers have said a 48 would be fine and that alot of shippers don't use the full 53 trailer space anyway :) Anyone own a reefer that could give advice...would be appreciated :D

Just remember if you're hauling Frozen normally they only load it to the 48' Mark anyway.

I think the only reason to opt for a 53' trailer is if you know you'll be dealing frequently with shippers that demand 53' trailers.

that's nice-the Topic was on whether he should get a 53 or 48'

I'd go 53ft if the price isn't signifigantly more. Per chance you are in a slow spot and can find dry van freight freight, but no temperature-controlled loads, the 5 ft could make the difference between the load or sitting.

In essence, though, a 48' should be fine, as I see more 48' reefers than vans in OTR.

Even with Dry Freight they still usually load back to the 48' Mark.

True, but better caught with a lil extra room than a few feet "not enough" If I had to be deep in cities though for a great majority of my loads, the 48 might have an advantage. For regional/long haul the 53 should be fine.
