07-24-2013Thats nothing to write home about. I hauled this super-secret load of ping pong balls one time and got 12mpg. Then the DOT wanted to see my load and they went everywhere. I refused to reload them and got 23mpg deadheading away from the scale!
On a serious note, 9+ is great mileage. That brings your fuel costs to around 50cpm, the same as it was for me about a year and 1/2 ago, when fuel was $2/gal cheaper :x Its amazing how you can save by not getting in it as much.
With fuel costs running in the neighborhood of 85cpm, you're giving yourself a 35cpm mile raise by going slower (and hauling lighter loads doesn't hurt). In layman's terms, a $350 raise for every 1000 miles. I'll PM my addres so we can split the savings. I take certified checks 8)

2) rerate engine for more horsepower; 3) switch to 22.5 low pro tires (your RPM will increase and the truck will pull better at slow speed).
